We are planning a trip to DL for late April/early May (obviously have not booked yet - waiting on developments from Dh's office). It will be our second trip to DL, and we would like to add on Legoland and Sea World this time. We will be flying in from Calgary, Canada, so no car of our own, and booking hotel across the street from DL. We are thinking of a 10 day vacation this time, with 3 kids ages 3, 4 and 6.

So what would be our best way to add Legolan and Sea World on to the trip? Should we rent a car for a couple of days and drive down from Anaheim? Not sure if it is worth switching hotels and doing Legoland for a day on our way to SD, then do next day at SW and fly home from SD?
Anyone have any advice? We aren't the most mobile family - with the ages of the kids, we'll need to haul carseats and strollers and such, and the kids normally nap each afternoon, so we aren't really a "commando touring" kind of group!;) To give you a hint as to our touring style, last year we stayed across the street from DL, we were there at park opening, lasted till about 1, returned to the hotel for a couple hour "siesta" then returned till closing (which was early - usually 6pm) We avoided weekends like the plague, since it was really busy, and that wasn't our preference.

If anyone has any advice or suggestions, it would be very much appreciated!

Thanks!

That sound like a awsome trip ,we to are going to disneyland end of aprilApril 20 to 29. I am from grande prairie
We are flying in to lax and renting a vehicle and driving to carlsbad. We are going to go to sea world and lego land and maybe the zoo, teh we are driving back to anageim after a day at legoland, and doing disneyland for 5 days.
I hope you have a great trip
( we are only renting the van from the 20th to the 23rd but that might change lol)

Hi,

I remember following all your questions/answers from your last trip because we went around the same time and had a lot of similar questions!

When we went in March last year we flew into Burbank(it was the cheapest by far) then drove to our San Diego hotel and did Sea World and the Zoo. Then we packed everything up and went to Legoland and continued on to our anaheim hotel. Because Legoland closed fairly early we didn't have a problem getting to our hotel that evening, but our kids don't nap. We were travelling with 2 teens, an 8 yr old, 3 yr old and 2 yr old so I understand about not doing the "commando touring" but I couldn't imagine getting Legoland done if we had stopped for naps, everything seems to load soooo slowly. And Sea World we just barely got done before closing!
When we do that trip again we'll fly into San Diego and then fly out of Long Beach or any airport closer to Disney.
Also look at buying some tickets before going down. I bought our Legoland tickets from a travel agent and got them cheaper.

Have fun!

We are flying into Long Beach May 9th and staying at Hojo's until the 14th. We are also planning to do Legoland and a beach day and/or Seaworld. Legoland is about 59 miles from Hojo's assuming no major traffic. I was told to allow 90 minutes each way - we are from Seattle and 90 minutes doesn't seem that bad to us. It would also allow us to stop for breakfast on the way down and dinner on the way back someplace new and different.

My kids are 3 & 5 so they no longer nap so that isn't a consideration for us.

I also looked into paying the airport shuttle for all 4 of us + renting a car for 2 days vs. renting a car for our entire stay. The car for the entire stay was a bit cheaper and allows us some flexibility with getting to grocery stores or changing our plans at the last minute.

If you do decide to make ressies for a hotel in SD, be sure and check the Legoland schedule first. Looks like they shut down on Tues/Wed towards the end of April and beginning of May.

I grew up in San Diego and live 10 minutes away from DL. Someone on another board asked a similar question. San Diego hotels can be pricier than Anaheim hotels. Also, you can get to Legoland from DL in about 60 minutes (with no traffic of course). Considering Legoland usually closes at 6 ( I think), I wouldn't necessarily stay in San Diego just for Legoland. Sea World usually doesn't stay open really late either. IMHO I would rent the car and drive to at least Legoland. If you are worried about evening traffic, you can eat in Carlsbad and then return to DL after dinner.

We are heading to DL Feb 27- April 3 then speding a week in San Diego, my question is,
has anyone done the VIP Tours at Sea World, SD Zoo, and the Wildlife park. Are they worth doing and do you see more than you would if you did not take them?

Any advice would sure be appreciated
