my two boys love the disney pins..

last year when they went down they loved trading all the pins, but lost a few with the thing that you wear around your neck.

would anyone suggest a bag, book, or fanny pack instead of the lanyard thing?

if so which one.. now my boys are both six and i don't really want some bulky thing for me to carry around all day for them.. something somewhat small, but more importantly will not lose their pins.

thanks

I wear some on my lanyard, but it gets heavy quick and yes, pins do get lost.

I bought some sheets of felt at a craft store and pinned my pins to it. I rolled it up and put it into my bag. I could pull it out to trade easily. I would usually carry about 10 pins.

My dd4 has the same problem. Now I just put the lanyard in a ziplock baggie and take it out when she wants to trade(takes up little room in our backpack). I also just bought her a hat in which she now has pins on it. She wears it everywhere and no pins have fallen off yet.

I have a Fanny Pack that I use for holding my pins for trading... I have one that was made to hold pins as well but I no longer use that one. I keep them in the front part and each pin is in a small plastic bag so it does not get ruined...

We also limit our wearing of lanyards while in the parks.

A lanyard is not a problem at a pin meet, or even in DTD.

When we're in the parks, we each keep a few lanyard traders in our fanny packs or pockets. I make sure that we stow any "finds" in a secure inner pocket of a fanny pack, so we don't lose track of those pins.

But we also purchased a very small pinbag -- holds about 20 pins -- that we carry in the parks in our backpack. That way if we stop by Epcot Pin Central or find some pinpals in Expo Hall, we have some "real" trade pins with us. :earsgirl:

We wore our lanyards to the parks.

We have found that it's pretty inexpensive to make our own foam boards for use in trading. I use the craft foam that they sell at Michaels, Joann's, and Hobby Lobby. The foam is that soft squishy stuff that can be cut into shapes and sometimes is sold in precut shapes. I usually get the thicker thickness for the base and a thin one with adhesive on the back to apply to the top. It works out great. You can hold the boards upside down with the pins stuck in and they stay put.

I find that full sized boards fit well into a tote bag and are quite sturdy. You certainly could cut the boards into smaller pieces for the kids to keep up with in their fanny packs in the parks.

I hope this helps. Maggie
