Best way to reserve Group ADRs?

We called the other day and sorted all of our ADRs for our trip in September. We are planning a "Magical Gathering", but our friends are slower to book their holidays. One couple just confirmed they paid their deposit and told us the days they will be in the World with us.

Question is, if they want to join us for our meals, should we change our ADR for 4 people, or have them book an additional ADR for the same time? We are hoping/expecting more people will be joining us but not sure at this point which days (we'll be there two weeks, and fully expect most of our friends/family won't join us for the entire trip).

we are booked for 12 and they didn't have any large tables open so I took a table of 8 and 4 or 3 tables of 4 and hope they will seat us together but we also have only one confirmation number for each ADR.

If you want to be sure of sitting together you need to book together, and as far in advance as possible for larger parties...

We didn't even book last weeks stay until january, and wanted to rendezvous with BiL and his family for a few meals - we were able to make a couple of reservations for 6, but a couple we had to make for two lots of three... that said they were able to seat us at adjacent tables for those anyway.

If you want to be sure of sitting together you need to book together, and as far in advance as possible for larger parties...

even booking together does not guarantee one table/sitting together... we were a party of 10 last year and more than once, even w/one ADR (and no advance warning) we were seated separately (6 and 4)...

to the OP: i would book a few hot spots for the largest group you anticipate having and then cancel or reduce the number as soon as you know for sure...
