Best way to meet A&E without FP

Made my Fast pass selections last night and was unable to get one for Anna and Elsa. I have a 5 year old Frozen loving princess who will freak if she doesn't get to meet them. We have two full days us a Christmas party at MK. One of our days as AM extra magic hours.

What is the best strategy to meet them w/ the shortest wait? I don't think my daughter nor my 18 month old son will handle standing in line for 2 hours.

Thanks in advance!

Be there at rope drop and go as fast as you can--SAFELY--to the attraction. Wait times at rope drop can be as low as 15-20 minutes.

Or

Book a pre-opening breakfast at Be Our Guest. If the park is open at 9, then book your breakfast at 8 AM. Then you are already in the area when the attraction opens.

To add to the above suggestions, wait times late at night get pretty low. Closer you get to park closing the lower it will be. I've walked by a few times and saw 15-20 min wait.

I'm thinking about doing A&E first thing (we have an 8:00am BOG reservation) and then doing 7DMT as the last thing we do in the park because our party (of 9) is very divided on what they would like to do most. BUT I'm still stalking FP+ availability!

Jumping in as we had the same experience last night - Dibb said they were gone before I even logged in, and I went straight to the final day of our trip and nothing was available.

We are not late night people (I guess I should say my kids are definitely not late night people) so I don't see the 'close the parks' strategy working for us. Which leaves rope drop. We have no pre-opening ADRs, but our first day is EMH for 8 am, should we be aiming for that? Will we be stuck waiting in the line for a 9:00 opening for A&E, or will they start meeting and greeting early due to EMH? I hope this makes sense. :)

Thanks in advance for advice!!

I'm wondering the same thing about EMH. Will we be waiting an hour until they start meeting or will they be there at 8? We also have no pre park opening ADR's.

Do a BOG breakfast then walk right over. And I agree- keep trying for the FP+. We just booked our December trip a couple of weeks ago, and I have gotten every ADR we wanted to shake out at the times we wanted them. People cancel all day every day. I have had multiple BOGs shake out- we didn't need but the one I reserved- yet it was interesting to see them pop up on the screen so regularly. I do not rely on what other websites say is or is not available other than the Disney site- because at the end of the day that is the only one that matters. Stay relentless- check a few times a day- especially around 10-11 PM- as in my experience that is when a lot of stuff seems to drop into my lap. Good luck.

Can anyone advise regarding the extra magic hours in the morning? I personally have no interest in chasing down a BOG reservation at this point but am totally willing to do rope drop, I just want to clarify if they will make us cool it in line until 9 am or if the actual meet and greets begin early because of the extra magic hours.

Does anyone know? Thanks in advance!!

ETA: I will be continuing to check for FP, but I am not holding out much hope since I can't check 100 times a day or anything.

A&E is currently an EMH attraction both in the AM and PM

We were there last year in early November (Jersey Week) under similar circumstances. We went on our last day, I think, which was Early Magic Hours. I participated in "the Running of the Dads" at Rope Drop and my wife and daughter caught up a few minutes later (it was our only morning at Magic Kingdom and I didn't want my daughter to miss the show).

If I recall correctly, Elsa and Anna didn't arrive until around 8:30, and from that point, we had about a 15 minute wait. I'm pretty sure were were done and on another ride by 9 am. Not a GREAT way to spend the Extra Magic Hour, but it made my daughter happy.

Now, if you're going Christmas week, the crowds are going to be much, much worse, but first thing in the morning is still probably your best bet.

My understanding last year -- and I don't know if this has changed -- has that only one member of the party needs to be on line to wait, so theoretically, one adult could entertain the kids while another waited on line (ah, cell phones -- what did we ever do without them?). When we went last year, we were joking around with the people in front of and behind us. The guy in front of us had been sent ahead by his family WHO WERE STILL AT THE HOTEL! When we got the the "inner hallway" (where there are paintings of all the princesses) he pulled off to the side and started letting everyone go in front of him. When we parted company, his wife had just called him to say they were arriving at the park.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Rope Drop at Magic Kingdom is madness like something out of a movie. A herd of people, mostly a wave of dads, grandfathers, and older siblings, stampedes down Main Street, led by a human wall of Disney cast members. Folks who try to cut through the main street stores to get ahead are bounced back out. When we got to the end of Main Street, I think everyone thought the human wall would break down, but it kept going right up to the entrance to Cinderella's Castle. Then through. Once on the other side, everyone started drifting right, trying to get to Elsa and Anna, but that route was blocked, and instead we were led the long way around the Carrousel before finally being "released." Every time we reached a juncture and the cast members didn't break away, and increasingly large number of parents would yell out things like "Come on!" It was frustrating, but also laugh-out-loud funny.

After breakfast at BOG We Will go to Anna and Elsa, ask for my return Time (i have disability) and The cm told me just go! It was 9am.

We will be there in November, hopefully not insane crowds but I am braced for more than normal in the fall!

I would LOVE to have one parent in line waiting while one of us parks the stroller and makes sure the kids are ready to wait, but there are crucifying threads here about how that is line cutting so I'd dare not. :) I DO hope that common sense is observed though, and one parent and two kids can get in line while one parks the stroller and then joins us. Good grief.

Sounds like I need to prepare for the very slow walking of the bulls. LOL

Excellent, so it sounds like we can do rope drop for Early Magic Hours and be in fairly good shape. :) Thank you!

@rslagle224 - sounds like a plan!

I agree! I think this our best bet!

What week are you there? We are going Nov 15-21. I thought it was supposed to be a slow week! Not so sure w/ all the ADR and FP madness!

We are trip twins - same dates almost, we leave the 22nd so one extra night.

I'll see you in the A&E line probably! :-)

Screw those people and their crucifying threads. There are a large number of folks here who can make a 5 page list of what they hate about Disney World and would be hard pressed to fill a single page with what they love. There are no posted rules against it, and it doesn't slow the line down at all to have the second parent join in later. Buncha arm chair referees around here ;)

This is what we did in April end of the night almost midnight we saw the wait was 20 minutes. We had no plans to meet them but got in line and had a wonderful M&G.

:cheer2:

Preach it! LOL!

I like to picture Claude Frollo on the steps of Notre Dame calling forth fire and brimstone on the negative nancies of the DisBoards.

Buncha gypsies if you ask me.
