Tried searching for this, but couldn't find it. We're staying at VWL and going to the tea at the GF. How do we get there, and roughly how long should we leave for it?
Take the boat to MK then catch the monorail to GF. I would give yourselrf a hour to do this. You can have the front desk call you a taxi if you want-it is a very short trip. I assume you do not have a car, but if you do it is a very short ride.
Ask at the Bus stop at WL... Many of the buses going to DTD, MGM or even Epcot go to Grand Floridian first (or at least they did when we were there in Oct.)
Also, you could take a bus to the Ticket & Transportation ctr. and then catch the monorail...
Sounds like driving is the best way. Thank you so much! Trying to figure out the best ways to get around WDW has been the most challenging thing for us since we bought DVC.
Our AK bus went to GF before going on to AK. That would be a direct bus ride there, but I'm not sure about going back. Best bet is to drive and valet. The self parking is a hike.
As Darner posted, you can check with the bus drivers at the WL bus stop to see if they are going by the GF. I have my car and have driven, but you have to park so far away sometimes it is faster to catch a park bus that stops at GF.
If you have a car it is a very short drive (very short). If you want to take some time and walk:
Hop a quick bus over to the ticket and transportation center. From there you can walk right through the Polynesian resort (might be nice to just take a walk and look) and then make your way over to the Grand Floridian.
If you dont want to walk, then you can take a ride on the monorail from the ticket and transportation center and you will go right to the Grand Floridian
The walk from the Poly to the GF is one of the best things at WDW... I had wanted to do it for ages, and we finally got to try it this past June when we stayed at the Poly. It is genuinely lovely. We walked at sunset, and the flowers were blooming and the sun was getting low over the lake. When you get close to the wedding chapel, it is just dazzling white against the colors of the water and sky and flowers, and it is just beautiful. The kids loved the heart weathervane on top of the chapel. All the lights on the grounds were coming on and it was just soooo pretty... We hung out at the GF a while the rode the monorail back to our room at the Poly. This whole area is just beautiful. Every foot of ground has color and beauty. Everyone who has a chance to take this stroll should do it! I am there in MY mind, too.
when we were there a few wks ago twice I took the boat to Contemp from WL, walked to MK, boat to GF, walk to Poly and monorail back to Contemp, boat back to WL.
I took pictures along the way
