best way to get from DTD to MK?

Friends will be at Bibbidi Bobbidi in DTD, and want to go to MK afterward. Their hotel is POR (they'll take the boat from POR to DTD), is the fastest/best way to MK from DTD to take the boat to Saratoga Springs and then bus to MK?

Is there a better way?

Other option would be bus from DTD to CR and then walk to the MK from there.

Best way is to take the first bus out of Downtown Disney to a resort, excluding All Stars, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Coronado Springs. At the resort, transfer to a bus to Magic Kingdom. If the first bus is for Contemporary Resort and Polynesian and Grand Floridian, you can walk to MK if you get off at the CR or take the monorail from any of these.

Fastest way is to take a taxi from DTD to CR, then walk to MK.

The bus system from DTD is known for being slow. A bus from there to anywhere should be the last resort. Either use the boats to get to a resort and catch the bus there to MK, or taxi to the Contemporary, and walk to MK. Personally, I'd use the taxi. Much much quicker.

We did this last weekend. We took the bus to CR and the monorail to MK. Worked out just fine.

In all actuality....walking to the MK is much faster than taking the monorail. Of course, take the monorail if you just want the monorail experience. The walk is under 10 mins...get off the bus, walk towards the parking area, beneath the monorail line. There is a sidewalk that takes you right to MK...pretty much under the monorail.
If you take the monorail to the MK...off the bus, into the CR, up to the monorail level, wait for a monorail to come, then stop at the TTC, Polynesian, GF and finally the MK, taking about 20 mins once the monorail gets there and moves.
