Best way to get a canceled ADR?

I was wondering how some of you are able to get an ADR when you know someone is canceling? When they post the ADRs they are about to cancel, do you just call or go online to snag it? What are the chances of getting the one you want? There is an ADR that someone said they will be canceling, but she is waiting for me to be online to try to make sure I get it. It's for the night of my DH's bday, so I really hope to get it! I'm just not sure of the best way to ensure that I will

I got one from the cancellation thread last week. I sent her a PM and she said that she could cancel whenever I was ready. It happened to be that we were both on at the same time. She sent me an email telling me she was going on to cancel. I went on at that same time and put in the ressie she was cancelling. I just kept hitting the search button and re-doing the search until it finally popped up and I got it.
So I guess the best way is to be online at the same time. Good Luck.
