Heading to Orlando tomorrow for our first visit to Universal...planning on 4 days in the parks. Sunday and Monday are high chance of rain (and thunder) most of the days, so I'm looking for any advice on how to approach our visit. Have our ponchos ready to go, and we are staying at HRH. Thankfully Tues/Wed look okay for now...

Thanks!

BRING EXTRA SHOES!!

My first visit with my sister we had a hurricane and torrential rains one day. Ponchos - check - umbrella check - extra socks - check......
Next morning we got up and our shoes were still totally soaked through. Now we always have at least 2 pairs of shoes just in case.

I think I'd also recommend some sort of hat. The poncho hoods don't always stay on as you run from place to place and sometimes you just ant ot keep your arms underneath.

Dress like you do when you know you are going to be riding water rides. Take in some shows. Generally, the bad weather will pass. I have been there with bad rain many times (even tornadoes and thunderstorms) and those times had only disrupted the park for short periods of time.

Many of the attractions in the Universal Parks are indoors though you may get wet while waiting in lines.
Since you are staying at the Hard Rock, you will have Express Passes allowing you to bypass most lines.

Examples of Indoor Attractions:
US: Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, Transformers: The Ride-3D, Men in Black: Alien Attack, The Simpsons Ride, Shrek 4-D, T2 3-D: Battle Across Time, E.T. Adventure, Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem, Horror Make-Up Show
IOA: Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Poseidon's Fury, Cat In The Hat

Though I've never eaten there, every time I think of rain, I think of hiding out in Monster's Cafe and grabbing a snack.

When it rains, I wear my Teva sandals
Two straps around toe and ankle area so they don't slip off

And the bottom has ridges so you do not slide on wet payment

If I wear shoes and socks in the rain, usually end up with blisters

FL rains a lot. Like Patch'sD said, just go have lunch or watch a show, and when you could out, it'll be gone. If it's a rainy day in general, just make use of the indoor attractions and shows. Unless it's thundering all day, the water rides should be open some of the time. You're staying on-site, so you can even go back and get changed as needed.
