best way to do this for Nov?

Hi! I have never rented points before, and not even sure if this is the right place to ask this..we are considering renting DVC points...Have a family of 5..me, hubby and 3children. What do I do? TIA

DVC is a timeshare and tends to book up well in advance - if owners don't use their pts and wait till the last minute, they risk losing their pts for no value at all. at this point you would be lucky to find availability at SSR (the largest DVC resort).

you can contact david at http://www.dvcrequest.com to see what is available, but IMO you'd be wasting your time to look for a DVC rental 1-2 months out. don't be surprised if you contact owners with pts available on the DVC rental board and they don't respond (as you would likely be wasting their time.)

if you are interested in renting pts to stay in a smaller resort like VWL or BCV, you'd be better off looking for a rental at least 8-9 months out.

and don't be surprised if your post is edited - you cannot ask for a rental on this board. just FYI.

Go to the rent trade board and read the stickys at the top. You are most likely out of luck for the resorts your mentioned but you will never know if you don't try. Just be sure you understand the way renting from a DVC member works and what the differences are between that and making a reservation through Disney reservation system.

Go to the Rent/Trade board and see if you can find somebody who will do an availability search, or go through Davids website; you fill out a form and will find out rather quickly. Also, you could try the link at the top of these pages to the Timeshare Store, they rent points and are very quick to check availability.

Do your research. There are many positive things about renting a DVC reservation, but there are also things that you might consider negatives. You need to be fully aware of these before going into this type of arrangement.
