Best Way to Cure Disney Depression? Plan Another Trip! A Solo PTR *Updated 5/13 TR Link

You could knock out the Tiara must-do during your Downtown Disney visit. That's where I got mine, at the Arribas Bros store. Lots to choose from! :goodvibes

Hey I just stumbled on your trip report. Love all the plans and it's so awesome that you get to spend your birthday in WDW!!! Mine is in July... too hot and crowded for me. I will be in WDW solo at the same time as you, maybe we will bump into each other. Anyways just thought I would say hi!

If I make it to DTD I will definitely check that store out. I think there is an Arribas Bros store in MK and somewhere in Epcot (Mexico?) that sells tiaras. I'm sure I'll be able to find something

Welcome! I agree that summer is way too hot and crowded, I couldn't do it. I never thought I would be at Disney World on my birthday because I always said I wouldn't ever go during spring break season, obviously that didn't last

My Fastpass+ window opens in less than a month. I think I finally figured everything out. I had my fp+ choices picked out as soon as I planned my park days, but I’ve changed it around a million times. I used the rankings from the Fastpass+ info thread (here) and started out with the major headliners for each day, but since I have multiple days in certain parks there were several repeats, which felt strange. So I changed it around so there weren’t any repeats. And now I am back to the headliners repeating. I think that plan makes the most sense because I’ll want to ride them multiple times and I think this is the best plan to avoid long lines.

My fp+ day happens to fall during February break (which I have off) so I can devote as much time as needed to working everything out. But I’m not too worried about getting everything. As long as I get one for 7 Dwarfs Mine Train and Toy Story Mania, I’ll be happy. And with the exception of a few days, I don’t have any specific times in mind. I’m aiming for midmorning times so I don’t have to rush to get the the parks in the morning, but I can still get extra fps after the original 3.

Ok, enough of my blabbering. Here are the plans...

Saturday- Arrival Day, Magic Kingdom
-Splash Mountain (around 8pm)
-Wishes
-Big Thunder Mountain (after Wishes)

Backups
-Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
-Space Mountain
-Haunted Mansion
-The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

My plane doesn’t get into Orlando until 5:50pm, so hopefully I’ll be checked into AoA by 6:45. I’m planning on getting to Magic Kingdom around 8pm. I picked Splash Mountain because its one of my favorites and it was closed for refurb on our last trip, so it seemed like a perfect first ride of the trip. I didn’t want to use a fp for Wishes on a full day and lose out on a chance for additional fps, but this night seems like a perfect time to try it out. I know it can be hard to get, but I won’t be heartbroken if I can’t get it.

Sunday- Magic Kingdom
-Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
-Splash Mountain
-Space Mountain

Backups
-Big Thunder Mountain
-Haunted Mansion
-The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
-Peter Pan’s Flight
-Journey of the Little Mermaid

Monday- Epcot
-Soarin
-Spaceship Earth
-Mission Space

Backups
-Test Track
-The Seas with Nemo & Friends
-Journey into Imagination

This is the day I’m doing the Marceline to Magic Kingdom Tour. It is a 3 hour tour starting at 8am, so it should be done by 11. I’m planning on hopping to Epcot right after the tour (maybe stopping for lunch first) and hopefully should be in Epcot around noon.

Tuesday- Animal Kingdom
-Kilimanjaro Safaris
-Expedition Everest
-Kali River Rapids

Backups
-Dinosuar

This was the easiest day to plan for. I don’t think I changed it once.

Wednesday- Magic Kingdom
-Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
-Peter Pan’s Flight
-Space Mountain

Backups
-Splash Mounatin
-Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
-The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
-Haunted Mansion
-Journey of the Little Mermaid

Thursday- Epcot
-Soarin
-The Seas with Nemo & Friends
-Spaceship Earth

Backups
-Test Track
-Journey into Imagination

I was originally going to alternate the top tier attractions for each Epcot day (Soarin one day, Test Track the other). But from what I’ve read, the single rider line for Test Track consistently moves quickly. So I think using my fp for Soarin both days will be more affective. I’m not 100% sure I’m going to get a fp for Spaceship Earth for a second day, I may switch to Figment.

Friday-Hollywood Studios
-Toy Story Mania
-Tower of Terror
-Frozen Sing Along

Backups
-Rock n’ Rollercoaster
-Muppet Vision 3D

Saturday- Birthday!
-Soarin
-The Seas with Nemo & Friends
-Journey into Imagination

This day was by far the hardest to plan for. I don’t have any plans for this day besides spending the night at Magic Kingdom, and I didn’t want to use my fps that late and not have any for the entire day. I figured I will probably end up at Epcot after breakfast, so that is what I planned for. If that isn’t the case I have no problem with switching them around that day.

FP+ selections look good. You're lucky that your window opens during break ... makes it easier to stay up and do everything at midnight!

I think 7 Dwarfs Mine Train is easier to get than it was when it first opened - so you should have no trouble getting it for at least one of your MK days - you may even be able to get it for all 3.

I think getting Soarin' for Epcot all 3 days makes sense - even if you do have to wait for Test Track single rider, it'll be a much shorter wait than Soarin'.

I'm loving all the Soarin' fastpasses!!! :thumbsup2

Just a tip, based on my own experience... Expedition Everest and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster both have Single Rider lines, too. I honestly wouldn't recommend using a FP for either. Using the Single Rider line, I literally walked right onto both rides with zero waiting during my September trip. :goodvibes

I also found this to be very true, especially EE! Also, if you're at AK toward park closing, EE is usually a walk-on no matter what line you are in. :thumbsup2

I'm not too worried about getting a 7DMT fp, I'm thinking it will be easier since I only need 1. I will definitely want to ride Soarin whenever I'm in Epcot so multiple fps makes the most sense

I love Soarin! I'll probably end up in the standby line a few times too. I did the single rider line for Rock n' Roller Coaster on my last trip and it took more than 40 minutes, which was the posted wait time. So I don't have a lot of faith in that one. But unless I can't get one for TSMM, I won't get a fp+ for it. I've never done single rider for Expedition Everest, so I don't know how affective it is, but having a faspass for it is kind of like a safety net, if that makes sense. It might not be the smartest choice, but it makes me feel less nervous.

Today was a snow day for me and its looking like tomorrow might be another one. We are right in the middle of a huge blizzard. It is forecasted that we could get 20 to 30 inches of snow by tomorrow morning. There are hurricane strength winds, snow is blowing everywhere, which makes for dangerous driving conditions. Everything is closed. This picture gives you an idea of how low the visibility is at times.

If you look closely you can see the trees across the street. :rolleyes2

And just to show how crazy it is out there...

You can’t even see the road!

Anyway, since I have so much extra time, I thought I would post an update about the Disney packages I’ve recieved in the past few weeks.

First up was this package from the Disney store.
imagejpg5_zps28099628.jpg

Hi, my name is Jess and I am addicted to Disney tees. When I see a cute Disney shirt it nearly impossible to not buy it. It’s a problem, only not. The Disney store was having a one day special; free shipping on new items. I saw these adorable shirts and couldn’t resist.

Next up was my long awaited package from Magical Ribbons!
Magical Ribbons is a website that sells these amazing hair bows (and some other things) based off of Disney characters. They are beautiful, great quality, and reasonably priced. You should check them out! But heads up, if you are going to order, expect a few months to get your order. They are all hand made to order (so they can be customized) by one person, so it takes awhile but worth it.
imagejpg1_zpse568c778.jpg

This order I got 5 mini bows; Mulan, Cinderella, Aurora, Elsa, and Anna. It is hard to see how big they are in the picture, use the business card as a scale. They are all gorgeous! And look even better in person. I can’t wait to wear them to the parks.

I also got a floating lantern necklace. And yes, it lights up!
PicMonkeyCollage_zps2457019b.jpg

I thought it would be perfect for nights in the parks!

Incase any of you are interested, here is a picture of my other bows from previous orders.
imagejpg4_zpsf2ab4360.jpg

I have 3 full size bows; Minnie, Rapunzel, and Merida (based off her turquoise princess dress). And 5 more mini bows; Minnie, Belle, Wendy, Mary Poppins, and Kiss the Girl Ariel.

Wow - looks like you got hit really hard by the storm! I hope you're staying inside and staying safe.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the shirts you got from the Disney Store! And those ribbons are beautiful - if only I had heard about them sooner, I totally would have gotten some for my next trip (I don't think I can order them now and get them by mid-February ...) ... oh well, next trip. They are so beautiful, though.

That floating latern necklace may actually be the cutest thing I've ever seen. And it's always good to have your own source of light for nights in the park!

Overall ... great purchases. You will definitely look super cute in the parks!

Love your purchases!

I wish the Disney Store didn't charge so much for international shipping, although maybe it's a good thing, cause my closet would be stuffed with Disney things. Hoping I can hop across the boarder soon (as soon as my new passport arrives) to get some Disney merch.

That is some crazy weather you are having, bet your looking forward to some Florida sunshine! Stay warm and safe :goodvibes

Don't worry, my butt isn't leaving the house until this storm is over. I already got the call that tomorrow is going to be a snow day.
February is a little too close to get the bows in time, but you should still check them out, they are great for everyday too!

Some Florida sun would be great right about now :beach:
I hate paying for shipping, hate it! I avoid it whenever possible. It is probably the reason why I don't spend all my money at the Disney store. There isn't a single one in my state, so online is my only option

The main reason for posting this little mini update is to test out the new DIS website. I figured I'd get the testing phase out of the way before I try to post a more important update. So feel free to skip this!

I'm sure how I feel about the new site yet. There are some things that I don't like, but I think it is just because it is not what I'm used to. I'm sure once I get used to the system those little things won't bother me. However, the biggest thing I don't like is that the app no longer works. I'm on my tablet a lot more than my laptop, so I lived on that app. Yes, I can just use the website, but it takes forever to load everything. But I really like the idea of being able to upload pictures directly from your computer. It will make life so much easier to write trip reports since I no longer have to spend hour uploading and organizing pictures onto photobucket.

I mentioned in my last post that we were in the middle of a blizzard. Well, it didn't end there. We've had storm after storm the past week. They estimated that we got 4 feet of snow in less than 2 weeks. And there is another one forcasted for tomorrow morning. :faint:
10894905_1758951227664051_1586291188_n.jpg

Ya, the snow banks are taller than I am. And this was before the latest storm, add another foot to that

So, I had snow days last Tuesday and Wednesday. Had school on Thursday and lost power for the last 2 hours of the day. More snow days on Friday and Monday. And yesterday was a 2 hour delay. Today was the first full work day I've had in almost a week, and it was an early release for the kids. And there is a possibility that tomorrow will be another delay or even a snow day. I never thought I would get tired of snow days, but yes it is possible.

Elsa needs to pull it together.

The new site definitely takes some getting used to. I actually find it much easier to use on my phone than the old site (I never used the app, I always just loaded the site in the browser, which didn't work very well).

Holy cow that's a lot of snow! The storms are definitely coming too close together these days ... At least give the snow some time to melt before new snow falls!

Elsa really does need to pull it together. Someone should remind her that love is the solution. Love and a little less snow.

Totally with you on the snow situation. I live in the suburbs of Boston and we've had so much snow, I've been blinded by all the white! Its insane! I hope the next few weeks the snow will be done. I want flowers for April, not covered under 4 feet of snow!

Holy Moly that's a lot of snow!!! I don't envy you that weather. I'm still getting used to the new site as well, really didn't like it at first, but it's growing on me.

Holy cow you got a lot of snow!!! I have family in New Hampshire they were hit hard as well.

I have enjoyed reading your report, you sound kind of like me. I am planning my trip in reverse - it started with airfare that was too low to pass up. $100 per person round trip from Philadelphia, there are 3 of us flying for less than the same flights are now for 1 person - how can you turn that down! I am waiting not so patiently for discounts for our travel dates (JUNE 16-23) to be released before I decide where to stay, what kind of tix, etc. We may stay a few days off property exploring the area outside of Disney depending on the rates. Meantime, I am going to plan vicariously through others:rotfl:

I really like the idea of making your must do lists, I think I may borrow that one if you don't mind

Oh man. Every time I see snow photos, it makes me so grateful that I live in the South. Sure, the summers are brutal. But if it keeps me away from that snow, I'll take the trade-off!:flower:

I'm with you on the new boards. I actually avoided them completely for the first few days. I'm somebody who does not take well to big change at all, and while I understood the need for updated technology, I still just found the whole thing off-putting until I settled into the idea. Now I'm going through my "Watched Threads" and try to catch up and dipping my toes in the new water. Eeek! :scared:

The main problem I'm having is that it takes forever for all of the pictures on trip reports to load, since you now have to go to the whole page and not just the individual post. This snow is crazy, maybe Valentines day will cheer up Elsa enough to take a break with the storms.

Welcome, thanks for joining! It is tough waiting for the info you need to start planning details, hopefully you get them soon. Feel free to use my must do list idea, I don't mind at all. I'm glad my PTR could help you plan your trip!

I don't think I could handle southern summers, I don't do well in heat. I would much rather deal with blizzards than temperatures above 90. I avoided the boards at first too, I still do a little. I've been reading my watched threads but haven't been looking through the forums like I did before. I am definitely on DIS a lot less than I used to be.
