Best way to book this scenario

So I am planning a larger than average multi-room trip with family and friends and would like your advice on how to book with MS. (In order to avoid violating posting guidelines I shall remain vague on resorts. )

In order to accomplish my plan, I will need to receive one or two large point transfers.

My hope is to begin at Resort A for four nights. Then I want to transfer for four nights to my home resort, which we will call Resort H.

I do not own at Resort A and would need to book at 7 months out or, my hope is to get a transfer for this resort.

However, if I don't get a transfer for Resort A, and I get a point transfer for my home resort or another Resort (say B) how should I commence?

Should I book at the 11 month mark at Resort B or my home resort for all 8 nights? If at the 7 month mark if I cancel the first four nights to move to Resort A instead will I in essence be canceling and re-booking? Should I wait for the seven month mark?

I hope to travel in June if that changes your response!

TIA for your input!

If your dates are set, my first choice would be to get a transfer for Resort A and one for H (if needed) & book both segments during the 11 month window.

Second choice would be to get a single transfer for your home resort and then book the entire stay there at 11 month window. Try to change to Resort A at the 7 month window, but if not available, just stay at home resort.

If you need multiple rooms, I would not advise using the waitlist unless you were OK with some rooms at Resort A and some at your home resort.

I would work very hard at getting the transfers at A & H - Other resorts' points would not be an option for me, due to the assumption that waitlisting isn't feasible if multiple rooms are required.

Good Luck!

Since you are only allowed 1 transfer each year, you will need to get all the points you need in one shot.

In theory, couldn't I do at least two, if not three?

For example, if I need 450 points and my trip was in 2012 I could get:

150 points in UY 2011 transferred and bank them

150 points in UY 2012 transferred

150 points in UY 2013 and borrow.
:wizard:
I know you can bank transferred points but can you borrow?

You can't borrow transferred points.

Why not let all the guests get their own villas? It will save you the grief of people deciding at the last minute that they can't go because Bobby has football tryouts. Susie has cheerleader tryouts. School's not quite out or they just got out and they want to just relax for a few weeks......

Thanks for the info and friendly advice! I have fortunately traveled with this group before and they are also timeshare owners so they understand the ins outs and quid pro quos. :-)
