Best way to add place holder to backup booking

Hello all. I’m beginning to get a little worried about our August Alaska cruise. I really want to do it but if it requires a test mid cruise and one to leave Canada we are out. It’s a ton of money to spend on reduced experience plus vacation should not be about worry. I’m thinking about booking a backup on the dream out of Miami. If I booked it now to get the stateroom I want would it be easy to add my place holder discount from 2019 (currently this is on the Alaskan cruise) to it later? What would this involve? Also will they even let me book it as the dates of the 2 cruises overlap? Thanks so much!

No, unfortunately, the only way to keep your placeholder discount is to modify the Alaska cruise to the Dream one. The placeholder is attached to the Alaska reservation number and any new cruise you book will have a different reservation number.

If you decide to switch, make sure you tell them you want to modify the reservation to a different cruise, NOT cancel and book a new cruise. Cancelling will void the placeholder discount.
