We have a dinner ressie at 6:20 PM for Kona's and we will be at the AK. We will be with my parents, and due to bad knees...Dad is a slow walker...

What time should I leave AK? What is the fastest way to get to the Poly? I wasn't sure if I should take a direct bus or hop to the MK and take the monorail...and I am not sure how far we need to walk once we get to the Poly...

TIA! :goodvibes

You should absolutely take the direct bus to the Poly. Taking a bus to the MK then going to the monorail is quite a hike.

Another option is a taxi. When you leave the AK, there are taxis to the left in the handicapped parking area. That is your fastest way.

I would plan on at least an hour for transportation. Plan on arriving at the poly by 6, since you still need to get inside and checkin

have a good time!

I was going to suggest a taxi also. Less walking, less time (should take no more than 20 min) and no bus/monorail hopping. We did this whenever we went from resort to resort...now we rent a car but I would go with the taxi. I doubt it would be more than $30 rt.

Have a great vacation!

Actually, I noticed last week that the Polynesian / Contemporary bus stop at Animal Kingdom was number 2, and something else I noticed will also help:

At the bus depot, I noticed they had courtesy wheelchairs to get between the bus depot and the main gate. I'm sure you could ask a cast member at the exit for a courtesy wheelchair for the bus stop, as well.

I would leave AK at 5pm and go to the Polynesian bus stop.

I would also leave at 5 and take the bus. It will take you right to the Poly and almost in front of the GC House, Kona is inside.

Thank you so much for this information! I didn't know about the courtesy wheelchairs! I'll just have Dad climb in and let my 15 1/2 year old zoom him over to the stop! He'll think it's fun to take Grandpa for a spin! :goodvibes

Minnie, there is lots of info over at the DISabilities! board too. Walking the parks is very hard work. Encourage Dad to rent an ECV if he needs it. It will let him do SO much more and help him keep his stamina up.

My Mom has some mobility issues and rents one at Disney. Without it, she would be done in an hour. With it, she gets in at least half a day then back out at night.

Have a great trip! :cool1:

Thanks for the info...I didn't think to look there! :goodvibes
