Which is the best WDW DVC resort to stay at with 10 and 5 year old boys? Thinking about location, transportation, pool, amenities, dining, etc. I am sure there is a thread or two that answer my question, but I could not find my answer in one concise place. We own at BCV and have stayed there multiple times. We have also stayed at OKW (and Swan and Dolphin prior to DVC ownership). Any helpful information is appreciated :). I am new to the board, so bear with my longhand :).

Each DVC resort has something different to offer by design. I don't know that there is a best, where one resort may be weaker in the transportation, they may have other positives that make up for it.

What parks will you be visiting, being close to the park is always a resort plus.

My DS10 says OKW, no wait AKV! Now he says BLT or BWV! Oh good lord! He loved them all (has stayed at all except GFV) but honestly says he loved OKW for the large room, great pool slide, and boat to DTD. I made him choose and he said his 2 faves are OKW and BLT.

BLT seems to be a good fit with a close proximity to MK, the monorail, plentiful dining choices, and an above average pool area. My second choice would be BCV (though you own there) with SAB, easy walk to Epcot, DHS nearby, and also many choices of eateries and activities. Finally, I'd say VWL as you have a boat to MK, close proximity to FW and its activities, and a newly refurbed pool. Have fun deciding. :thumbsup2

If your five year old is short, the pools lacking zero entry are tough - Boardwalk has a really deep pool that is difficult for young kids. A little taller and/or a strong swimmer (or happy in a lifejacket bobbing around) and its a great pool.

I don't think WL has a zero entry pool either (unless they did a major remodel). Nor does OKW.

It's just so hard to answer for someone else.

Proximity to what? Location as compared to what? Transportation to where and when and how lucky is your family? What does your family like in a pool? What do you like to eat?

It's all so individual. Pools. A person that likes to really swim isn't going to like a pool loaded with features and slides and such. We like swimming, so our fave pools at WDW are actually the Value pools, because they are big and generally rectangular and easy to swim in. We drive, so location and proximity really do not matter. Transportation...we have awful luck with buses, so just about any time we're waiting for a bus, 10 other buses will stop and go by the time OUR bus gets there.

My two boys have always love both AKV and BLT with BLT being the firm favorite.

I love this question because everyone has a different answer! Each resort has something great to offer. My personal favorite is Saratoga Springs, but many people hate it. I love the grounds, pools, dining options and DTD.

Best summer day ever: SSR, AK, BB, DTD/DQ, SSR/pool/nap, HS/dinner, MK/emh, SSR/bed!

We've tried something like that from other resorts but only SSR is right on the water park route, next to DTD, and centrally located (AKV was too remote to make it work).

I agree with this. It seems like buses are not that plentiful at DVC resorts, or sometimes 3 buses will come by for 1 park while while you have waited a very long time for 1. We just drive to most areas or make a dining reservation at a hotel with easy park access
