we will be staying at carousel inn and suites and want to go to Walmart. Can you please recommend which one we should go to? It's not just groceries we want it's all the other things to, makeup, kids toys etc. (coming over from New Zealand)

You should skip Walmart and go to the Target instead. The closest one to your hotel is 12100 Harbor Blvd, Garden Grove, CA 92840. Its two miles away. You can ride a city bus there if you are not going to rent a car.

If you want to go to a nice (decent) Walmart, you'll need to go to Irvine. There's a Walmart Supercenter near Irvine Spectrum at hwy 5 & Alton. It's about 20 mins from DLR.

I've been to the one on Euclid, and I'm not quite sure what the issue would be with it other than it's huge and perhaps a little difficult to navigate. I found it about the same as other Supercenter locations.

I would say Irvine if you want to be adventurous. There is one near the border, located in Tustin, Ca near the District Shopping center which is a bit more crowded but closer than the one near Irvine Spectrum.

Again, I'm not getting what the issue would be with the one on Euclid. I've kind of gotten in trouble for commenting on DIS about the typical clientele at WM, but yeah - the one on Euclid tends to serve a lower income demographic than perhaps Irvine or Tustin. However, it had all the stuff that I was looking for. Additionally, that location has a lot of Disney merchandise (makes sense) that's harder to find at other locations.

I would skip Walmart entirely. There is a big Target on Harbor and Chapman in Garden Grove. It's on the Anaheim Transit route. It has everything that you're looking for and it will be a much more pleasant shopping experience. Walmart is not a pleasant shopping experience. Their stores in California leave a lot to be desired. When I come out of one, I feel like I need to shower right away.

I was going to say that the best Wal Mart is Target. I've stopped at the one on Euclid when I needed something and there's nothing wrong with it. Fortunately they don't check paystubs at Wal Mart, nor did I inspect the other patrons. It's the closest one, so I'd just go there if you're not looking for something specific.

Otherwise, what you can do is use the find it in store feature on both Wal Mart and Target websites, and if there's some specific item you're looking for, choose the store that has it in stock. Target has WiFi in the stores, and they'll price match items sold by Wal Mart and many other sites. I believe Wal Mart also has some sort of price match policy, but I've never used it, so don't know the details.

The Walmart vs Target debate is always interesting. I have seen trashy Targets (including the one on Harbor, sorry the last few times I have been it was not "nice) and nice Walmarts. They are pretty much the same thing, Walmart just has a bad reputation.

You are totally correct. The OP from NZ should google "the people of walmart". That website is accurate as well as hilarious. Shop target.

This is getting more and more interesting. I remember one thread where someone asked about the same question, and it was more of the same about trashing Walmart, their business practices, their employees, and their typical customer base.

Addendum: And that was followed by the mods deleting a bunch of posts.

And yeah - sometimes there are issues with long lines and other assorted stuff. Some people think the customer base is trashy. However, I wouldn't dissuade anyone from shopping there just because of certain biases. I find what I need, pay a decent price, and get out.

Last time we came over from Australia we went to the one on Euclid. Up until then I had only been to Canadian Walmarts. It was fine. And the customer service desk people called us a taxi!!! You sure don't get service like that here in Australia. The store was clean, the other customers were normal ( and coming from another country, we are always a little bit jumpy and to be honest, yes wondering if we are going to get mugged or involved in a shoot out ). I sure didn't notice anyone that looked like they belonged on the People of Walmart website. If you don't have a car or want to take a taxi, I think there is a Walmart on the ART line that has just been added.

I didn't mention the one on Euclid cause I've never been to the one on Euclid. Why I haven't been? simply because I haven't lol Which is why I mentioned if the OP wanted an adventure to go to Irvine or Tustin instead of focusing on Anaheim; not based on socioeconomic groups/class/income etc. I also didn't mention Orange's location because I know that one stays crowded. Simple as that.

I was responding to the post referring to the Irvine location as "nice". I wasn't sure what to make of it, although I suspect it was something about the selection or clientele.

The location on Euclid (Anaheim Plaza) has a lot of things going for it. In the shopping center there's a AAA office, BofA, Party City, Forever 21, and other retailers.

I went to the walmart on Euclid 1 time and never again! It was 9 pm on a weeknight. extremely packed, everything thrown around the store and every single checkout line was 45 min long.

Does the Target on Euclid have a lot of Disney merchandise? I found a photo of one aisle of plush online, but that was it. Is there a decent assortment of items? I might want to stop there on our next trip if so.
