Best waitlist chance for 5 guests 11/11 - 11/18?

I know 7 nights is very wishful thinking, but we’ve gotten lucky in the past.
For 5 adults we lose the ability to waitlist SSR.
What resort do you think gives us the best odds for 5 adults during 11/11 - 11/18?

We normally book much farther in advance, but we have a relative who’s coming off of oncology treatments and wanted to get the family together for a holiday trip.

I see the following options for 5 adults:

1 BR villa at AKL Kidani

1 BR villa (standard or Savanna) at AKL Jambo

Deluxe studio (standard or lake) at Poly

Deluxe studio (standard, boardwalk, garden/pool) at Boardwalk

1 BR villa standard view at Contemporary

Deluxe Studio (standard or preferred) at Riviera

Deluxe Studio (lake or standard) at GF

1 BR Villa (standard or near hospitality house) OKW

Deluxe Studio @ Boulder ridge

Deluxe Studio @ Beach club

Personally I couldn’t do 5 adults in a studio. So I’d do 1 bedroom at SSR.. new renovations allow 5 or 1 bedrooms at AKV

Waitlist the resorts with the largest number of individual room types you have listed. Others probably know better than I do, but I assume that would be Kidani and/or Poly.

I would cross all studios off of the list right away. Not only are they very crowded for 5 adults, the chances of your waitlist filling successfully for 7 nights anywhere during those dates are extremely poor.

I wouldn't give a standard view at BLT much of a chance, either. Too few of them and they're popular with owners.

Your chances are best at Kidani (more villas, 1BRs are less popular than studios and it has 2 full bathrooms). OKW standard would be next (there are not a lot of near HH villas to give you any hope). Jambo would be a distant 3rd choice just because they are fewer in number.

I would never do five in a studio, especially all adults, and even a one bedroom for me would be iffy, but with someone coming off treatments, I would cross off studios and focus on a one bedroom, and a 2 bedroom if you have the points.

I can also tell you, I have an 8 night reservation from November 12-20 that I pieced together over the last 3 weeks (five different ressies but got it done, BWVs pool/garden view in a one bedroom) and November 10-12 are like unicorns. I have been stalking for three weeks for November 10-12 (I did see OKW this morning had those dates, though, for the first time) for a studio or one bedroom just to get a few more nights in and those dates are never open. Dates before/after but not those dates. I almost took OKW, but we just stayed there in February but may take it if I see again.

Your best chance is stalking. Keep the DVC page open on your phone browser and check the dates everytime you have a spare minute, especially when you first wake up, making sure “All WDW Resorts” is selected. I have had mixed success with WL but always eventually got what I wanted by stalking.

This is what I do/doing right now for November 9-12 to complete a reservation for extra nights. However, at work I use an automatic refresh that refreshes from 2 seconds to one hour. I use 10 seconds. It has worked very well for me to piece together my 8 night ressie so far at BWVs one bedroom.

Drop someone on the booking, waitlist OKW and Saratoga. Add the 5th back when/if you fill waitlist.

Saratoga will be 5 in a 1BR by then. OKW Standard, Saratoga (either Standard or Preferred) and Kidani Savannah View 1BR will be your best numbers games.

Book what you can and you are going to have a bunch of single nights. Check daily and slowly you might be able to piece together longer stays.

It's completely a guess what might or might not come through. Doing single night wait lists is more likely as well.
