best value when phoning home from wdw

Hi all,

I returned last week from good old WDW and thought I'd share this little piece of info for you.

When I visit WDW I usually like to phone home a couple of times to check up on things like, are my dogs behaving and the footy results.

I used to buy the AT&T Phonecard For $20 and that would give me 19 minutes, You can get them from guest relations at downtown D.

HOWEVER I was staying at Bwv and I asked them if there was anywhere closer that I gould buy a phone card and they said to go to the swan hotel.

I went to the guest services there and paid $20 for one of there phone cards.
I got approx 130 yes one hundred and thirty mins using this card

Infact I threw it away yesterday as it has a 6 month expiry with about 20 mins still on.

I'd say that was far better value than 19 mins wouldn't you ?

we looked around, and found that the value on phonecards varied considerably. it definitely pays to check what you are getting for your money.

Thanks for that info. We'll be staying at the Dolphin (next door to the Swan) so I'm very interested in this phone card. What type of phone card was it? It definitely sounds like a bargain!

From past experience I must admnit there can be quite considerable differences on what you get on different phonecards.

I bought a $10 phonecard from Wal Mart and got 40 mins of calls to the UK. When I bought a card from Universal Studios it was about half the time.

It is not always clear when you buy the cards what you actually get, but I would guess that those bought 'on site' in the parks are going to be more expensive than those bought from supermarkets etc.

Any suggestions for 'good value' cards that can be pre-purchased in the UK?

....or is it always better to wait and buy them in the US?
