I am looking for a good, but reasonably priced carrier to Florida.

Having usually travelled with TCD, but now having had a really bad experience, 24 hour delay and NO contanct from reps out there, only to be told it was not policy to send a rep to help out the passangers who are stranded by delays, really bad food provided during the delay and told a range of stories, some of which were quite obviously lies as well as just plan incompetance, I really do not want to travel with them agian.

I like to book fly drive and am wondering if anyone knows which company might be best value, I think Virgin will be out of my price range paying for 6 adults! :( Also I ike to spend the money when we get there.

I'm sorry you experienced this - we went thru the same thing with TCD January 2004. 24 hour delay, put in a hotel with no contact whatsoever, terrible food etc. I honestly would've thought things would have improved by now. This time we are trying First Choice - we booked our trip 18 months ago and it was quite cheap at £972 for the pair of us! Now that their planes have been replaced/upgraded they are supposed to be an excellent choice and are still very reasonable. We have upgraded to the premier cabin to see what it's like for an extra £300 for both of us, return.

The best charter that I have used has been My Travel. I know a lot of people dont seem to like them, but they really couldnt be faulted. We had a brand new plane (Airbus 330) and although we were seated in cattle class, had plenty of room. In flight entertainment was tons better than Virgin, cabin crew were very friendly, plane was clean and well maintained. It also had a downstairs loo area which was novel!

Wouldnt hesitate to use them again - I think I paid about £170 each for a fly drive in May 2002. A real bargain as the flight was actually BETTER than the Virgin flights we had had previously!

You do have to pay for drinks, but for the sake of £20 between 4 of us, it was still a bargain!

If I were you I wouldn't hesitate to get prices from ALL operators and I wouldn't hesitate to go with Thomson or First Choice, their planes are ok and a lot of the first choice ones are brand new with in flight entertainment etc so you wouldn't 'miss out' on a lot of the virgin style of flight
