Best Value to Buy a Home near Disney?

Melbourne Beach area or Sebastian....close to the water and short drive to Disney. Also close to 95.

I am open to moving further away. The more south weather is actually even better for my wife. If it is on the East coast and close to I-95, it gives me easy access to come back North to see family especially for emergencies.

What areas do you recommend I look into?

We have a second home in the Palm Beach corridor (technically, in Lake Worth, going towards Boynton Beach) we are 10 miles to the Atlantic ocean/Intercostal, and live right between 95 and FL turnpike. I just did the drive to Disney this weekend and it was 2 hours 40 minutes, straight shot turnpike to I4.

Condos can be had here from the mid-100s in an inland golf community to millions for waterfront penthouses. For homes, lots of gated communities from the 300s to the $1ms. Everything is easy to get to and we feel we get a lot of value for our tax dollars here. We have thought about trading in our place for something in Winter Garden, but there's a lot to like here. We don't have kids, but the schools are reportedly quite good. My parents live in a development that is walk to the local elementary school.

YMMV. Happy to speak about the area if you want to chat. We only live there Jan-April but my parents have a place about 2 miles from ours that they year-round in.

I live in the Tampa Bay area (and love it) but I have heard good things about Clermont, and it is so pretty with the rolling hills when we drive through it on the way to Disney. I also know people who have gone to Mt. Dora. Auburndale is nice too and near Legoland, I'm not sure how far it is to Disney though because my path there doesn't take me through Auburndale.

There’s an abundance of cheap, skilled manual labor in Central Florida. Undocumented immigrants are naturally going to be attracted to cash jobs in a region with minimal regulation. If you have a steady base of clients and referrals, you may find such transition to be overwhelming and bitter, and thus your happy place will be a miserable one.

I’d suggest renting before buying, so you can see if such move is truly viable for your family.

We also have been thinking about a move to Florida. Here are some of my thoughts. I want to live in an area that is primarily residential. I don’t want to have different neighbors each week all in vacation mode. I would not mind living a few hours from Disney. Honestly I am at the point that I prefer the resorts over the parks. I agree with your wife over the driving issues. I4 can be crazy
