I know you sometimes might get upgrade what was your best upgrade at a resort ?
I'm talking about one you didnt know about until you arrive
I'm just wondering ....and curious

booked garden view at GF spring break of '05, upgraded at check in to lagoon/MK view. Sweet! Apparently they overbooked our room category but had a king room with queen sleeper if our girls were willing to share a pull out if they could see the castle from the window (CM's wording to them ) Of course they said fine! Funny thing though, we actually spent so many nights there (5) that we grew tired of hearing the train and all of the hoopla from Wishes I remember DH complaining that he couldn't hear his TV show because of the fireworks.

Our last stay at the BWI was an awesome upgrade. We had booked a waterview room, but when we checked in we were upgraded to concierge. We were treated like royalty and one of the staff offered us a tour of the presidential suite one evening. It was so awesome. The only thing that would have topped our stay would have been getting to sleep in that suite. We had an excellent view of the boardwalk and the concierge service was amazing. We are still trying to stay at a few more of the resorts that we haven't tried yet, but BWI is our favorite so far. Not just because of the upgrade, but because we love the resort and the service. We had stayed once before and came back because it was so great.

We don't usually ask for anything special. My DH is super lucky, and we've gotten several very awesome upgrades. People just give him things

We were upgraded from Garden view Poly to Concierge Poly for 9 days.

We were upgraded from Standard room to Water view concierge at Yacht Club.

We were upgraded from standard Boardwalk Concierge to Boardwalk View Concierge.

I've also been upgraded from standard to water view at POFQ on my own, as well as WL, we had couryard view booked, and I was upgraded to concierge. At POFQ I asked, willing to pay for it, I had been trying to change categories for a week and nothing was available so I asked at check in and they just gave it to me. WL just informed me I had been upgraded. Such a great surprise! So I guess I'm a little lucky too.

I've usally gotten my room requests as well...pure luck. I don't go in expecting anything! But, I've gotten the building I requested at POR, the building I requested at Pop, the savannah I wanted at AKL and the floor, and when we were upgraded at WL I still got the same view I had requested. Awesome!


Funny thing...now I usually book concierge because we love it so much...so Disney was smart about giving us upgrades. We now have a Garden view concierge booked at Poly (fingers crossed, maybe we'll get lagoon). And in November, we are staying at the ultra super expensive 14th floor Contemporary. Believe me, Disney is cashing in on the upgrades they've given us!

Kinda a tie for us...

Several years back we booked a parking lot view for our honeymoon at BC and ended up with a nice cozy corner water view.

Last summer we booked a studio room at SSR and ended with a 1 bedroom villa, that was awesome. How nice it was to go home with all clean clothes because there was a washer and dryer, not to mention the money we saved on our meals because of the full sized kitchen...very cool and quite a nice surprise after driving through some nasty storms on the way up that day!!

When I went in 2003, I took advantage of a 7 nights for the price of 4 promotion for my first-time-ever stay at a deluxe - AKL - but I just booked the standard view. When I checked in though, I was told I was being upgraded to a pool view (not given a reason, though), which I thought was just a one category upgrade. However, when I got home I found out that 5th floor rooms are deluxe rooms, and since that's where I was, I actually got a three category upgrade!

Thanks ! not really hoping for anything ( no such luck I guess ) even if I am use to what they offer on DCL sometimes you book a cat 11 and get a cat 6 for nothing .
I was just wondering about wdw upgrades did you have to pay extra $$ or where those free upgrades ??
It doesnt hurt to wish right ??

We were booked in a standard room for three days at BWI, they upgraded us to garden view CL. We didn't ask for it. The lady checking us in asked for our name typed it in and got a big smile on her face and told us that we had been upgraded to CL. She was so sweet about it, she seemed like she was excited for us.

Usually there are not many options to upgrade at values and moderates and they are usually booked solid.

Of course this summer so was the deluxe resorts, so not many upgrades.

Our best upgrade was at CR many years ago. I believe it was around the 20th anniversary that we were checking in the last week of September, and checking out on the 30th. We had just booked a standard room. But they said they were overbooked, so they gave us a suite in one of the wings. It was really fabulous! I'm thinking that that suite was probably going to be booked by some of the press or VIP's for the anniversary event and since we were checking out just before, we got lucky. Other than that, it's just been run of the mill upgrades, like a water view instead of standard at BC or a courtyard instead of woods at WL.

Our one and only upgrade happened in January 2007. We booked gv Polynesian room for DH to run the marathon. We were upgraded to a MK view and had a perfect view of the castle!

My in-laws were upgraded from a standard view YC room to a waterview YC room when they came with us in July. That might be because we had booked a waterview room and they asked to be near our room.

We've been very fortunate over the years... but our favorite upgrades:

1) GF garden view to GF Sugar Loaf Concierge
2) AKL Pool to Savannah (I'll always book Savannah in future stays... they got me)
3) BC Std view to a water view corner room, which was very large
4) WL Std view to Woods view (and view of the castle through the trees)

As a 17 year old, my parents had booked CR Tower, and we received a 1 bedroom suite on the 14th floor. That was probably my best ever.

We have been upgraded both times at GF from GV to LV, and both times at YC from GV to LV. No upgrades at CR, Poly or WL, we generally tend to book what we will be happy with and if we're upgraded, it's just a little pixie dust.

There are upgrades at the values and moderates. I was upgraded from a standard room to a water view room at the pop century. I actually would have preferred NOT to be upgraded because the pool at the pop is always noisy!

Went to check in at POR and learned they had overbooked and I was sent to POFQ pool view--not sure that was an upgrade, but the CM said so! Checked into AKL with a Savannah view and was upgraded to Deluxe Savannah View. Neither were too major a difference IMHO! especially withthe POR one--I had ADR's for Boatwrights so that became a bit of a hassle as a result.

We always just book what we want because I am very unlucky and have never had the amazing upgrades I hear others on here mention.

Best upgrade we got was to WL Concierge. We had a standard room booked. We have also gotten upgrades from standard to water views, or standard to courtyard.
