We'll be staying at the Westin, and while the walk isn't too far, we may need to take a ride share because my daughter has an injury and needs to limit walking. I've always walked, so no idea how to navigate ridesharing to/ from the parks.

Where is the best pick up point at DLR for rideshares, with the shortest walk from the exits, that also has a spot to sit down and rest while waiting? Grand Californian?

Also, considering rideshare pickup areas are likely very busy picking up a lot of rides at the end of the day, how do you know which car is yours if there's a large pick up area? It's typically easy to spot your driver by car make, color & license plate when there's only a handful of cars in a small area - but a multitude of cars in a large area could make it difficult. Any tips would be much appreciated!

I don’t know anything about rideshares at DLR. But I was just thinking that maybe you could rent a wheelchair? Use it to go from the parks to/from the hotel. And leave it parked inside the park if she doesn’t need it all day. Just a thought!

The Grand Californian is your best bet if the rest area at the stop is a requirement. If you can rent a wheelchair or find a way around it, the normal pickup/dropoff area will be faster and closer to Disneyland Park.

I have never had a problem finding my rideshare at the end of a busy night. Since the app gives you the make, color & license plate, you should be fine. Yes, it can get a bit hectic out there, but it's still easy to differentiate. (Also, I believe in the app you can notify your driver that someone in your party has a mobility issue, so that way if it takes you longer to get to the car or get in/out of the car, they won't charge you an extra fee for the wait. So definitely look into that just in case!)

The Harbor drop-off area is the closest to the parks, but there isn't any seating to rest in between the drop-off and the parks. So, you'll want to consider that as well.

I know some guests rent an ECV from an offsite company, so they can just ride it from the hotels to the parks back and forth, so that's also an option.

The main Harbor entrance is the best one. There is a dedicated pick up/drop off area. When you are waiting for a ride, you have to be the one looking for the car (make, model, license plate). The driver will let you know they are there, but then you have to find them. There is not a place to sit and wait at the Harbor pick up area.

Good luck getting a driver to accept your ride request to/from the GCH. That's less than a half mile trip. It's almost comical thinking about hailing a rideshare for what amounts to a 10 minute walk.

How do you plan to limit walking inside the park?

I'd recommend renting a wheelchair from Scooterbug for the duration of your visit. They will deliver it to the hotel and pick it up when you leave and will cost half that of the in park rentals. Having to uber every time will get annoying. It is much easier and faster to just walk.

Joining this thread as I have a similar question— we’re staying about .7 mile away, will we have trouble getting a driver (Uber, Lyft, or Taxi) to accept the request? Thanks.

Probably. With the cost of gas near $6/gal around Anaheim, drivers are being very selective and only taking profitable rides. Uber takes a larger commission on short rides.

Is there a reason you can't walk 0.7 miles? You'd need to even walk that far if you drove a car and parked in the parking structure, unless you paid extra for preferred parking.

More concerned with safety late at night. Renting a car is probably my best option. Thanks.

Yeah I wondered if the recent gas hike would impede the rideshare availability and possibly affect rates, too.

We've already considered renting a wheelchair offsite for several days, but would definitely want to park it for a couple of hours at a time inside the parks. Is it safe to do so without fear of theft? Would a bike lock be a good idea just to avoid someone grabbing it by mistake or "borrowing" it because they see it sitting there for so long?

You are not allowed to lock wheelchairs or strollers in the parks because the CMs need to be able to move them.

I wouldn't abandon the wheelchair and leave the park, but I would park it in one land and then walk around to all the stuff nearby and then just swing back and grab it when you are ready to move on to the next area. The wheelchair will be labeled with the rental company name and a personalized nametag with your last name on it. I doubt people steal wheelchairs on the regular.
