Hello! I am one week and one day away from my first trip to WDW and I can't wait! I have read tons of food threads here, a dozen guide books, and looked at all the menus online and still can't decipher where to find the best turkey sandwich and best salad. Here are the details making this tough:

I don't eat white bread, so the sandwich has to be on whole grain or whole wheat.

I don't like any condiments like mayo, mustard, etc., so I need to be able to get the sandwich dry.

I don't eat processed cheese, so if the sandwich comes with cheese it has to be real. The turkey also needs to be skinless and not fried.

For salads, I am looking for spinach, romaine, mixed greens--NO iceburg as a base. If there is chicken, it cannot be fried. No cheddar cheese, and I don't eat dressing so it has to be available on the side (not pre-dressed).

Wow--I am a picky-picky girl! To make things even harder, how about I throw in another stipulation! It has to be a place at one of the 4 major parks (MK, AK, MGM, or Epcot), not the resorts. Counter service options are greatly appreciated as I'm on a tight budget.

So, if you know of any sandwich or salad that fits this tall order--please let me know! Thanks!

Have you maybe thought about taking your own sandwich in? They are fine with you bringing in your own food as long as its not in some huge rolling cooler or glass containers. If you don't have a car to shop, you can place online orders at Garden Grocer or Wego Shop. Just a thought.

For the salad, you can go to the Sunshine Seasons area at Epcot, they have a nice salad that is all greens, no iceberg. They have sandwiches too, but I can't remember if they are pre made or not. I know I had a turkey sandwich on foccacia bread there in April that was good. But I can't remember if it was premade and what the condiment situation was! They also had a chicken (grilled) caesar salad at Sunshine Seasons that was very good. It was made to order so no dressing necessary.

There is a smoked turkey sandwich at Flame Tree BBQ in AK, its on a wheat or multi grain bun.

At MGM, I can't think of anything that meets your critieria but I am sure others will. Oh wait, I had a chicken caesar wrap there, it was at the Studio Catering Place. But I think it was on a white tortilla.

At MK, Cosmic Rays has a grilled chicken (not turkey but close) sandwich that I have gotten. And Pecos Bills has a grilled chicken wrap I really like with Romaine lettuce, and I always get it plain because I dont' like mayo. But I think its also on a white tortilla. Also, the Plaza (which is sit down but very reasonable) has a turkey sandwich on multi grain bread. Its very good.

Good luck!

There are also fruit plates at many cs places (Sunshine Seasons for sure and also Flame Tree) and fruit carts all over WDW.

Have you checked the menus on www.allearsnet.com They have the best, most updated list I know of and it will list what sort of bread things are on.

the best sandwich ever (not just in wdw) was on a whole grain bread from the food court at pop century... it was turkey and brie with craisins... i don't think there was any condiment on it (but i may have used honey mustard)...

i was missing it so much the following trip that i contemplated taking a ride to pop just for a sandwich (it was at grab 'n go, premade)... but then... true disney magic happened... the same sandwich was available at the main street bakery in magic kingdom... YUMMMMMMMMM!!!!!! it was as good as i remembered :)

salad must-have is at sunshine seasons in epcot... enough said :)

For DHS, I've heard that Starring Rolls has a turkey & brie sandwich (but I'm not sure what kind of bread). As for getting things condiment free-you should not have any problem as long as you request it in the order. WDW is very good about catering to special diets.

If you are going to DTD, you might want to try the Earl of Sandwich.

If you will reconsider visiting a resort, Captain Cooks CS at the Poly has the best turkey sandwiches by far! Just a monorail ride away from MK & a great place to watch Wishes!

ETA: The Captain Cooks sandwich was definately on a multi-grain bread!

Thanks for all the suggestions so far! I am putting them all down in a little notebook so I can check them out when I get there.

I am bringing my own breakfast and lunch into the park every day and want to purchase my dinner and a snack there. Unfortunately, I have to deal with a dietician/doctor created diet (to deal with heart problems I developed from being underweight as a teen) on top of an already picky palate!

The more options I have to check out, the better, so please keep them coming!

Thanks!

We had this sandwich at the Backlot Express at DHS.

Grilled Turkey & Cheese with arugula and red peppers served with French fries or carrot sticks $7.09

It was very good. I cant remember what kind of bread though, sorry.

I am sorry I have no new ideas for you but I absolutely had to respond.
My little sister (now 21) will only eat a turkey sandwich the EXACT way you just described. I have been teasing her for years about how she is the only person on the planet that wants a sandwhich that particular.:rotfl:
I will have to show her this post.. and then apologize profusely. :goodvibes

This salad sounds good also at DHS. It is served at Toy Story Pizza Planet.

Pizza Planet Chicken Salad - Mixed greens, grilled chicken, cantaloupe, cucumber, red onion, tomato, green peas, fresh basil and balsamic vinaigrette $7.19

I am sure you could get it without the vinaigrette.

Or this one also at Toy Story

Caprese Salad - Mixed Greens, red and yellow grape tomatoes, mozzarella, kalamata olives, cucumber, fresh basil and balsamic vinaigrette $6.49

I am 21 too! Your sister and I must be kindred spirits!

I was looking at that one too, the red peppers and arugula sound great. However, I can't find out what kind of cheese or bread is used. Has anyone else had this?

Have a turkey sandwhich for me.

I think Pinocchio's turkey panini was taken off the menu.

The last time that menu was updated on allears is 5/08 so it could be gone. Too bad it sounded good.

It WAS good! We were there over Memorial Day and had it for the first time. Then we went back in late June for Star Wars Weekends, and it was gone!:confused3
I talked with the manager and told her how good it was and that we'd be back in September, and for her to have it back on the menu for us. She just laughed. :lmao:
