I am looking for a good TS for dinner at DHS. I really really want to see fantasmic, but should I book a dining package, or just wait in line. How long a wait is fantasmic usually. How does 50's prime time cafe work? what does your TV do, and is sci fi good? I cannot go to brown derby, so just I am wondering either hollywood & vine, mama melrose for fantasmic. Or sci fi, or 50's prime time cafe. Please let me know what you think. Remember I want to see fantasmic, but maybe not a dining package, if you think its better just to wait in line? Please Help me?

Whether or not to do the F! package really depends on when you are going & what your plan for that day might be.

Personally, I don't like the reserved area & much prefer taking my chances in line UNLESS its a peak time.

As for where you should dine, we've done 50's, Sci-Fi & Mama's and never had a bad meal at any of them. FWIW, we didn't think HBD lived up to the hype in food or service but that's just our experience.

We had almost written off eating at DHS because of our bad experiences at 50's PT and H&V, but then we ate at Sci-Fi, and we are so glad we found somewhere with decent food!

Personally, we have never done the F! dining package. When we want to see F!, we just get in line about 45-60 mins prior to show, which is usually fine for us because we can sit and rest for a little bit. We have never had a bad seat by just waiting in line.

We are going on our first trip in just a couple days so until I return I can't really comment to much...other than to say, I booked Mama Melrose on the advice of a friend...I hear bad reviews about the food but I'm really not that concerned over it as long as we don't get food poisoning or something! My bigger concern is that I wish I had realized that Mama Melrose is on the complete opposite end of the park as Fantasmic. For some that doesn't matter, and it may very well not be an issue for you...from what I understand it's a smaller park...however we have a 16 month old and after a day (or a FEW days) in the parks she might be wiped by then and us too. I wish I had picked Hollywood and Vine or Brown Derby if for nothing else their proximity to the show! :) Good luck! :)

We love 50's Primetime. It has a pretty wide selection. Comfort food. I always get the pot roast, wife normally gets fried chicken. We enjoy the atmosphere and we love our aunts and uncles that wait on us. Lots of fun. The TV's just show old reruns. If you have a good aunt or uncle, you don't pay attention to what is on the tv. Being a southerner, I love sweet tea. This is the only restaurant that I have found on Disney property that has fresh brewed sweet tea. A huge plus for me. The last visit I downed the first glass so quickly that Uncle Gary brought back an entire pitcher with a big straw in it. It was so good I drank almost all of it.

As far as Fantasmic, we were there Labor Day weekend. We went about 45 minutes before the show. Had great seats in the center of the ampitheatre. I agree with previous poster, I do not like the location of the reserved seating.

We really like 50's. Also enjoy SciFi. Mama Melrose's is ok, but that's because we've eaten at Via Napoli at Epcot and can't help but compare.

We had always avoided the Brown Derby. A friend had gone and said it was just to overpriced. He wasn't impressed. But we had booked a fantasmic package last minute and decided we wanted more than burgers and this was what was available. The food Fantastic. The service exceptional and the CM we had serving us was the best one the whole trip. I would definatley recomend this place. :thumbsup2

I don't know what time of year you are going, but if it will be during the warmer months of the year, I would recommend doing the F. dining package. We have only seen F. once without the package, and HATED having to line up almost 90 min. before the show (this was in Sept several years ago) in the heat with the sun beating down. Bear in mind that we were already hot and tired after a day in the park.

Since we always do a TS meal in the park anyway, we find it much easier to do the dining package. We've enjoyed our meals at Mama Melrose (had one of the best steaks ever there last year). We absolutely did NOT like our dinners at H&V. We also have never had a problem with the views from the reserved seating section.

You may want to consider the times available for the dining package. The lunch package is usually in the afternoon, after the big noon rush is finished. The dinner packages are in the later part of the afternoon, before the usual dinner rush. The last available dinner is usually at least 3 hours before the show, so you don't have to worry about not making show time. If these times aren't good for you, then you may want to choose a different restaurant.

We have always enjoyed our meals at 50s PTC and Sci Fi. We'll be doing HBD on our upcomig trip, just because we haven't eaten there in quite a long time.

We agree - ate at Sci Fi and 50s Prime time and never had a bad meal. We actually really liked 50s Prime Time - especially the Peanut butter and jelly shake - delicious.

what does TS mean? I know it means something entirely different, but I'm sure that's not what you're talking about :)
