Hi - we're planning a trip next year during free dining. Me, husband, 6 year old son, and 3 year old daughter. I am trying to figure out the best place to eat with them for dinner - looking at Coral reef or San Angel for the ambience, but also wondering if they wouldnt prefer Garden Grill (although I am also planning Tusker House for breakfast one day). Neither of them eat very much, so its more just for the atmospher of what they'd enjoy!! thanks!

So far we have eaten at the following Epcot locations with 3 children (10, 6 and 2.5)

Beirgarten~ While our 10 year old was more reserved, our 6 year old LOVED this place. We were seated down near the stage which gave her easy access to get up and go dance.

Garden Grill~ The food here was awesome and they do bring out children's portions of other food's that they would enjoy (grilled chicken, sweet potato fries and mac n cheese) desert was not your typical ice cream either. It was an oreo mouse!

We also did a LOT of character meals but this was one even my DH said he would love to go back to!

I think the best thing to do is take a look at the menus and see what would appeal most to the family. No point in making an ADR at a restaurant just for the ambiance if there's nothing there that the kids will want to eat.

Last year we ate at Via Napoli with my DDs (10yr old&4yr old) - it was my 4yr olds favorite meal. She got the spaghetti & meatballs and had it all over her face and clothes (that is how we knew she loved it) :)

I think you need to just look at the menus and see who offers the most of what your kids will like.

Another vote here for Coral Reef.

We asked for a tank side table with our kids 7 and 5 and they were so excited by the marine life that we could hardly get them to pay attention to their food.

After some intense nagging, they wolfed down enough to satisfy mom and dad (and their dessert requirements :lmao: ) but immediately went back to staring into the tank.

They still talk fondly of that meal to this day!

:thumbsup2

Garden Grill! Our three boys (now ages pre-school to pre-teen) have all loved Garden Grill for ages. Our first visit with kids was when our oldest was a year old, and his enthusiasm for it continues!

We love so many other Epcot restaurants - Le Cellier, Chef's de France, La Hacienda and Via Napoli are some of our favorites. And the kids like all of these, too. While I personally prefer these restaurants over Garden Grill, for a kid-focused experience, Garden Grill is a great choice! San Angel is actually not a favorite in our family - we always think about going back because it's a great view of the boats IF you get a table by the water, which is tough. And nobody in our family - from kids to adults - is crazy about the food. We all think Coral Reef is interesting and there are some good items on the menu that each of us enjoy, but it's not high enough on anyone's list to make it a priority in our dining rotation.

Good luck with your decision and happy planning! :wizard:

P.S. Tusker House is great for breakfast - our family loves it!

Via Napoli is a great choice and we have always enjoyed Teppan Edo...I love how it is a different style than the other restaurants! We always enjoy watching the fish at Coral Reef too. San Angel, however, is not a restaurant we will visit again. While the scenery is great, the food is just not quality...I think you would appreciate another restaurant more.

My son's fave restaurant at epcot (and mine) is Teppan Edo. We had so much fun there, and the food was SOOOO GOOD. I would highly recommend it!! All the kids at our table were mesmerized watching the chef cook!

I would recommend Garden Grill!! The kids love the revolving restaurant/ looking down at the Land ride , food was very good and the characters of course!!

We also ate at Tutto Italia with my D9 and enjoyed that also... but it was not "fun".... it was a really nice dining experience...

Garden Grill was AMAZING! Best character interaction we've ever had. The rotation just added to the kid appeal even more. My kids also enjoyed the Biergarten entertainment and the atmosphere at Coral Reef, but it's GG that they ask to go back to.

With the kids we have done Coral Reef & Chefs de France. Chefs is there 1st choice in Epcot for my kids and this is pre-remy. I think next trip I would like to try Via Napoli.
