Best transportation for off site guests

We will be staying off-site 30mins away from the parks. DH will be busy with work while I visit WDW with DD9 and DS2.
What's the best way to get to the parks? Cab? Any recommendations? Will they be readily available after the parade at night? What about car seat?
Should I just bring our rental (and inconvenience DH)?
I'd love to hear any other cheaper options.

30 minutes away is far. It will probably be cheaper to rent a small car than any other form of transport.

I'm not sure what you would do with a car seat while you tour Magic Kingdom. I would definitely drive on my own, even renting a second car, to get there. It would be more readily available and more convenient than depending on cabs.

Drive the rental. A cab would be very expensive.

A cab will run you around $120 or so round trip. You could rent another car and still save money.
