We're flying into LAX on March 4, and flying out of SAN on March 16. Originally, we had booked a car rental for the entire time. I was just checking my confirmation and there are now additional concession recoup and CA tourism fees on our reservation that weren't there a few months ago -- an additional $60-70! The cheapest rate I can get is $331 taxes included.:scared:eek:

We're staying at the Hyatt which has free shuttle service to DLR. So, technically we could get away with not having the rental while in Anaheim. If we rent a car from DTD on March 10 and drop it off at SAN, it only costs us $108 taxes included. Needless to say, that's quite a savings.

So now we're looking for a decent towncar service from LAX to the Hyatt. We would rather not share drop-offs with the shuttle bus. Who do you recommend and how are the rates?

TIA :)

Did you mean SNA and not SAN (SNA is Orange County, John Wayne International)?

LAX, I would not rent a car (if you are unfamiliar with the local area, you could easily get confused). I would look up Taxi service for LAX area on the internet to find some car service options (you should find many options that way).

As for transportation from the DLR to SNA (if that is the airport you meant) your hotel could recommend a taxi service. We were able to get car service from the Desert Inn Suites to SNA for $35 (for a group of 6).

If you plan on staying right around the DLR, you shouldn't need a rental (plus the Hyatt charges you $15/day for parking). Just a question... did you choose the Hyatt because of Hyatt points? From my experience (and others posted here) it may not be what you would expect from a Hyatt (most certainly not as nice as most of the WDW resort hotels).

Thanks for the reply... I was beginning to wonder how anyone got to DLR :goodvibes

I did mean SAN -- San Diego Airport. We're spending one week at DLR, and one week down in San Diego. We're flying out of San Diego.

As for the Hyatt, we have a kidsuite booked for free with my husband's Hyatt points. We're not picky, and he's a platnum-level member so we should get extra perks as well. I'm just happy for a kidsuite for my DDs.

Does anyone else have experience with taxi/towncars from LAX? Since we don't know the area, I would want a reputable company. Anyone else have experience renting a car from DTD?

Glad to hear. My DH travels to Asia often (that would almost be an understatement) for work, and he too acquires many hotel points. I'm sure the kidsuite will be a great fit. When we stayed there we were in town for a wedding (and a quick DL trip), and were without our kids. We just had a standard room, and it really disappointed us.

Have a great time in SanDiego as well! I wish I could help more with the towncar situation. We try to avoid LAX, so my towncar knowledge is limited to SNA.
