Best Toiletry Bag?

The LL Bean Family bag is great but it tends to get messy and disorganized as the family digs around for what they need. We used to use our LL Bean Family Bag but to be honest, it is just too big for our checked bag when we fly. Because it all goes in our checked bag (so size of baggie doesn't matter) I prefer to use gallon sized ziplocks. I sort things 1) hair care 2) toothbrushes/paste 3) medicines, etc.

The baggies work GREAT! Everyone can see at a glance if they have the right bag (with the specific items they need). Oh, and did I mention they work GREAT on the wire shelf in the All Star Resorts? ;) It is all spread out and yet at the same time all contained.

I have that too, it matches my make-up bag. I can not fiqure out how to get it closed!!! HELP! Mine has one tie on one side and it folds up but I can't tie it, is mine missing a tie?

It should have 2 ties...one at each end by each looped handle. I went and dug mine out of the closet.

Lay it flat, all the way open. Fold it in thirds, starting at the end without the metal hanging loop. Fold that third up toward the end with the metal hanging loop. Fold it again and you will then have the two fabric loop handles together and should be able to tie the 2 strings together.

If you still have trouble, let me know. I took some pictues and can post them if you'd like...though I don't know if they'd do any good. :)

That's the problem, mine only has one tie! Can't take it back either since it's been so long and I took off the tag.

Sew on a ribbon. To close it.

Or a loop to tie you one string to.

Agree with this. While we'll put make up and toothbrushes/paste etc in our toiletry bags, everything else for personal care goes into Ziplocs. I prefer them for things that can break/spill as well. Those get double bagged so I don't wreck everything in my luggage with perfume or sunscreen etc.

my toiletry bag(s) are good old fashioned Ziploc bags. They are see through which makes it easy to find things and when (not if) something leaks/spills then there is another in the cabinet ready and waiting.

I travel a lot for work. I used to buy toiletry bags and I do have the medium sized LL Bean but nothing is better than freezer ziploc bags (freezer are little more sturdy than regular).

I can easily see what's in there and what I need to replenish. And besides being leakproof, they can squish into any area of my suitcase and once they get gunky/old you just toss them.

When I travel with the family I do still bring my over the door shoe hanger so we can store and find things easier.

Yeah, that's a problem. :) No wonder you couldn't figure it out!

I would sew a ribbon or something similar on the other end so you can tie it.
