Best to take a taxi for breakfast?

Hello!

We are staying in POR and this is our first time to not have a car. I didn't consider this when I made a 8:10 reservation for breakfast at 'Ohana. I am not sure the best way to get there. Will it be possible to take a bus or am I better off getting a taxi to take us there? TIA!

We stayed at pofq in sept and had a very similar situation. We were trying to get to capt cooks at 745 so we could make 9 rope drop. I always read buses didn't run until an hour before park opening. Went to speak with concierge since I hadn't really seen taxis ( they were actually there just further back then i was looking)she says buses start running about 7 because of bfast reservations. We had no issues getting to poly on time. Just make sure you allow time for the walk from the bus stop at mk to the monorail stop. You could always do the taxi to if you wanted( for a less stressful morning) I know the bus was very full and then stopped at POR as well- which is the only time we shared on the entire trip.

I would take the taxi. It was about $15 when we took one from POP to the Poly but well worth it.

I would recommend taking a bus to MK and then hop on the boat or monorail to the Poly. The boat will stop at the GF briefly, but doesn't take long. The monorail will stop at the CR and the TTC before arriving at the Poly but it will let you off just steps from Ohana. The walk from the boat dock to the GCH is a bit further. I would only take a taxi if you are running late.

We just got back from POFQ and had 8:10 ADR at Hollywood and Vine. We made it to the bus stop around 7:15 and made it on time. However, it was kinda stressful and in hindsight, a cab probably would have been easier-plus we could have slept later. The other thing is that we were only trying to get to a PARK and you'll have to get to a PARK and then to the POLY which is a whole other step in the process. Granted, it's just a monorail ride away, but still, it can get tricky. I say go for the cab in order to be less stressed! What's $15 at Disney? ha ha

Just remember, if you decide to rent a car and drive to the Poly for breakfast you will only receive a temporary parking pass. You won't be able to head to the park straight from there and leave your car. We have found WDW transportation is much more convenient for getting around than trying to drive.

I made it to an 8:15 reservation at Kona Cafe using the buses from All-Star Sports. I think I was at the bus stop around 6:30AM. I got to MK just as the monorails started running, and got over to the Poly with time to spare.

It's doable if you don't mind getting up early. A taxi would buy you another hour's sleep, depending on how long you take to get ready.

If you are not considering going anywhere else off property, I would consider saving the cash from renting a car and use it for taxi's. For any breakfast ADR's or at night if you are really tired and don't want to wait/bother with Disney transportation, take a taxi. Or if you have a dinner ressie at a resort and are not returning back to a park, take a taxi. We did this last trip and loved it. I did budget a total of $200, figuring $25 approx per cab ride including tip. We took a cab 3 times. So then we ended up with a little extra cash for other things.

We've been late nearly every time we've tried to take Disney buses resort-to-resort for an early breakfast. 'Ohana is a little easier, though, since it's on the Monorail. I think you should be able to do it as long as you get out to the bus stop early.

I'd take a taxi unless you want to leave at least an hour before hand. With the transfers and wait time, you are much better served with a quick cab ride.

Spend the few bucks and use a taxi. The time you save will be well worth the small cost.

If you don't mind me adding to your question OP, does anyone know if they have a bigger than standard taxi that could take our party of 7 all together? I know we could hop in two, but it would be nice to split the fare with the other party we are traveling with

I have done both and find the cab well worth the money to save the stress and make the most of my time. For our next trip, I'm budgeting $100-150 for cabs for resort ADRs when we are squeezed for time or I don't have the energy to do an hour of bus/monorail/boat transfers. If we don't use it, I'll shop more on the last day!

Buses are okay for just a casual trip to a park or downtown, but when you have dining res. (esp. breakfast) we always take a cab. Even at the end of a long day those long lines at the bus stops can be overbearing...we take a cab back to our resort. I just take cab fare money and set it aside just for that. Convenience and the time it saves you is well worth it. Besides, calculate how much it costs to rent a car. You may only need to use a cab 5 or 6 times. Alot less than renting a car...

In a case where one is going to the Poly for breakfast and then heading to MK for the day, simply park at the TTC and walk over to the Poly for breakfast. After your meal, monorail or boat to MK- no worries about parking limits or moving your car.
