Best tips for packing healthy food?

Friut was easy to find at the parks - not so much with veggies - we ordered carrots and peppers from Von's grocery delivery, then brought them to the park. Also, to keep things cold, we ordered yogurt tubes, and froze them. If they melted, oh well, the kids ate yogurt. If they stayed frozen, they had yogurt freezies! It was all good either way! You could take a tiny, soft sided cooler for cheese strings as well, since they would stay cooler with the frozen tubes. I got a small cooler at wal-mart - about 8 inches by 8 inches by 3 inches - doesn't hold much, but didn't take much room either.
My kids also like home-made granola bars, so we brought some of those too. Very healthy, because I control what goes into 'em!:rolleyes1 and what the kids don't know, won't hurt 'em!;)

If you don't mind, could you tell me how you make your granola bars? Thanks! :flower3:

This is what we bring when we go to DLR. We have a skinny long cooler that holds a gallon of milk and a gallon of OJ perfectly. We keep it in our room when we drive and refill with ice every evening. (the ice is in ziplocs to cut down on the water mess)

We bring some cereal that packs well and that the kids will eat for breakfast. We've also done muffins and fruit, too.

Baby carrots and celery sticks (cut up at home and put in ziploc) are great favorites. Also, beef jerky and granola bars, goldfish crackers and capri sun or other 100% juice box/bag. We bring water bottles and refill as necessary at DLR at the drink fountains or use our cups of ice water to refill as well.

Bring what your kids/family will eat and likes.

We found that if we slice the apples before we go into the parks the kids will eat them better and don't end up throwing away 1/2 of an apple. Plastic knives are usually sharp enough with enough serrated teeth to cut an apple (get the strong ones) and we just put it on a napkin so it doesn't touch the table or counter. Pop into a small ziploc and off you go. Works great as an addition to breakfast too if people are too excited to eat in the room. :thumbsup2
