Hi everyone! New mama here. My husband and I have been going to Disney since we were both kids. We’ve been going together pretty much every year since we’ve been together. We even got married there! We welcomed our first child at the beginning of this month so this is new territory for us. Our DD will be 5 months old when we go in August to celebrate my dad and our nephew’s birthdays. We’ll have people in our group who won’t or can’t do the bigger rides (including another little guy who won’t be tall enough for those rides). Staying at POP and we’ll only have a rental car at the very end of the trip. I’m looking for all of your best tips. We know it’ll be super hot and to take breaks (I like to go back and nap during the hottest part of the day anyway) but what are some things people don’t think of? Or just things you found really helpful for the really little guys while you’re in the parks? Any good products to bring down with us? Thank you!!

will be 3 years ago this coming August but main thing we learned was it was too hot to baby wear for both baby and my daughter. baby did the best in the double stroller she shared with her big sister. had the seat reclined almost fully. we did not use her infant carseat as that held the heat also. hardest part of the trip was meals both counter serve and table serve as only Chef Mickey had infant highchairs. everywhere else only had wooden toddler chairs and with the traffic by tables it would not have been safe to over turn wooden chair and put carseat on top. not sure if that would have been allowed as we didn't have her seat with us as a number of places near us do not allow this. one problem with going back to room to nap if having her fall asleep on way there and being woke up walking from transportation and I include cars in this, then not going back to sleep which can ruin everyone's nap

Hi! I have traveled with my now one year old multiple times and taken him to Disney twice, once at 6 months and then at 9 months. We are bringing him again at 16 months in July while I will be almost 8 months pregnant. Ugh the heat. Anyways, our first trip was in September when he was 6 months old. I typed this stuff up earlier for a 6 month old recommendation, but all really helped. Good luck and let me know if you have questions!

We stayed out late with the baby. He still typically fell asleep in the park at his normal bedtime. I would recline his stroller to the sleeping position and brought noise cancelling headphones. We were able to watch Illuminations and Happily Ever After this way. Plus the entire parade from MNSSHP. He has always been easy sleeping in his stroller though. I am not sure if this is the same for you.

Because of August, I highly recommend a rechargeable fan for both you and the baby. It will help with the heat of the baby wearing and you can get one that will clip on to your stroller. I brought a white fitted crib sheet with us. During the sunny times, I would put the crib sheet over the stroller like a poncho and put the fan in it. My stroller has a vent in the back of it and I would open that up and it would create a cool wind tunnel for him. That drastically improved his mood whenever he felt too hot.

One thing to note is that Leo hated being worn in the parks but loved his stroller. I think he didn't get to see as much while being worn as opposed to the stroller, he got to see everything or maybe because he was way too hot being worn!

I’ve never done Disney with a baby that young, but we took my son to the beach at that age.
-Get a carrier for the water so you can take her in the pool.
-Ask your pedi about sunscreen. Typically, it says don’t use on babies under 6 months(even baby sunscreen), but our dr. said it was fine to use some
-Fan for stroller
-Sun hat
-I used light blankets over the stroller, like Aden and Anais to keep him covered from the sun.
-Use the baby care centers in the parks for an air conditioned break

Have fun! I found it pretty easy to travel with babies that young!

We've done WDW several times w/ little ones. A stroller w/ a great sunshade (but often their legs still exposed, so a UV blanket is nice). We had a good stroller fan & had that running constantly on them. I brought a set of ice paks (you can fill w/ free ice at the parks) & it gives great relief when you are hot, even if you hold it on them for a few seconds at a time! LOVE my UV umbrella (I bought online). It isn't the easiest to carry a baby and hold an umbrella, but my child did not always stay in the stroller, so whenever I carried my littles I hold the umbrella at the same time. It is so worth it knowing they aren't getting burned and as a bonus if you buy a nice one, it is slightly cooler under the umbrella. Also, bought quality baby sunglasses. Hope this helps :) Have a great trip!

Following this thread. We are bringing our 5 month old in July and I have been searching for as many tips as I can find!

One thing I wanted to share was something I found on Amazon. I don't know if it is any good, but it sounds like a good idea. Search stroller cool touch liners. Skip Hop has one for $16. Seems like an inexpensive thing to try and something great if it works.

I am worried about covering with a sheet, blanket, etc. because of air flow, but with vents and fan maybe.

I am not sure what we will do at restaurants but are lucky to have others going with us that can take turns holding the baby.

I'm going to look in to pool floats for infants for the mid-day hotel breaks.

When we brought our 6 month old, we used this huggapod from buybuy Baby, but it's on amazon too. You insert it into a normal sized highchair and it allows babies to sit up in it as long as they have good neck control. It was a life saver in restaurants so we could all eat at the same time. Also if you go to less crowded restaurants, they are more willing to allow you to bring your stroller in. Like Leo was asleep when we went to Skipper Canteen at Magic Kingdom and they let us bring him in in the stroller. Once he woke up, they didn't ask us to move him or anything.

Here is the link for the huggapod high chair insert: https://www.amazon.com/KidCo-Huggap...gateway&sprefix=high+chair+ins,aps,187&sr=8-3

Invest in some plain cotton onesies. I was so excited to have girls and be able to dress them up cute but my dh and I learned a comfy baby equals a happy baby. By the time our 3rd came along I would iron a cute saying, picture, etc... on a plain cotton onesie and head to the parks. We got a ton of comments and in the summer heat she was super comfortable. Have a great trip and enjoy your little one. Its such a magical time.

Bring a FrogTog towel so something similar for frequent wipe downs that will keep them a bit cooler.

We had gone in May, but still high 90s. 15 month grandson was flushed. I sat in the shade and covered him with frogTog and held a fan over him. 20 mins later , and his skin was cool to the touch.
