Best time to visit WDW

We are planning our first family vacation to WDW. We are tenitively scheduled to go during Thanksgiving week. Can someone tell me the difference in crowds between the week before and the week after Thanksgiving vs. Thanksgiving week. We have 3 school age children and are not sure their school would be cooperative about them missing a week.
Any help would be appreciated as far as crowds during Thanksgiving week.

I've never been to the parks the week of Thanksgiving, but I have heard/read that it is one of the busier times. We always opt to go the first week of December. There is a HUGE drop in attendance. If you can make the change, I'd definitely switch to the week after! You'll be able to enjoy the parks/resorts without as much of a crowd and even enjoy the Christmas decorations!
