Best time to visit London - Sept. or Oct.?

I hope you may be able to give me some insight...we are planning to visit with our Boston Terrier in either September or October. I have heard that September is nice weather wise, and not nearly as crazy with travelers, but is October better? Or, would you throw out those months altogether and recommend a different one? I have never been to the UK, so I have no idea what to expect. We are planning to fly into Paris (we have to get Disneyland out of the way. ) whenever we do go as our dog can fly in the cabin, whereas flying into the UK requires them to be in cargo and he has been approved through the pet travel scheme so we just need to pick a date and get there!

Any tips or opinions on when would be most ideal? Thanks in advance for your help!

Generally October will be wetter, windier and cooler than September. The days are getting much shorter too by that time.

Also most UK schools take a one or two week break in the second half of October which can make indoor attractions busier.

I'd choose September.

I would also vote for September. If the forecasts for the coming months are correct then it should be quite pleasant weather wise, and almost certain to be a lot quieter, as not only are the kids back at school it is also too soon into the new term for them to have arranged any day trips to the local attractions
October would, I expect, be busier and quite a bit cooler. Flights would also probably be more expensive as the kids break up for half term midway through - and us Brits always notice a big hike in prices to the US at around this time.
