Not to bring this bad stuff here but, I am going through divorce and want to look ahead for comfort. I want to drive my three children and I from NJ to Disneyworld. We flew three times already but, i want to drive this time to bond more. Anyhow, since they are all older now, I cannot take them out of school for a week. I wanted to know what is the best, less crowded time to go from June 15 - August 31? I may stay offsite this time.

Thanks.

the earlier, the better. I'd leave June 15th.

The last week of August is usually good because most of the southern schools are back in session. The caveat to this for this year was that FREE dining was offered to anyone who stayed at a disney hotel and purchased at least 1 MYW pass. This promotion drew in larger than usual crowds at the end of August. The free dining this year was from Aug 13 to Sept 30. Not sure if they will offer the same in 2007, but generally, the end of Aug is good crowd-wise. I hope you all can have a nice time next summer.

We are from the UK and visit mainly in the summer, I would avoid July at all cost, very busy and very hot.

I agree that many of the US schools return mid-August which generally means the parks are quieter, however this year with the Disney Dining Plan (the daft dining plan I call it)...meant the parks were busier than they normally would be.

Possibly then overall I would choose early June.

I usually go the second week of August. Althoug it is still crowded, it is not crazy. However, the heat is bad in the summer. I don't take my daughter out of school so that is why I go in August. I live in Staten Island.

I would also reconsider driving. If it is in your budget, it is so much easier to fly. You won't be so tired and stressed when you get there and can enjoy your vacation more.

We've been early June on a couple occassions in the past. Keep in mind, that Gay Day week is usually the first week of June and can pack some very large crowds. It was very crowded in early June '97 when we last went during Gay Day week.

I would agree the first part of June would be a good time to go or the end of August! I am sorry to hear about your Divorce but this sounds like a great bonding trip with your kids! :goodvibes

I've found mid to late August to be the best time. While it is hot, it definitely is less crowded. Actually, when we were there in August 2005 it was cooler in Florida than it was at home (we live in NH - go figure). We're going from 8/11/07-8/25/07. If you're looking at staying offsite, check out vacationrentals or vactionhomes. I just rented a 5 bdrm/3.5 bath house for $550/wk including taxes. It's in Davenport, which means we'll have a 15-20 min drive to WDW, but as we also plan to visit Tampa I wanted to be a little west of the Orlando area.

Good for you for moving on and having been there, I did the same thing. You will definitely need something good to look forward to. My thoughts are with you since I know how difficult this time in your life can be. Once I started divorce proceedings I decided that once a year, no matter what we would go on vacation. We have been to Disney 3 times since only once on site. We go in August generally around the 15th. The Florida kids are back in school by then so the local crowds are much less. I will say that with the 2nd year of the free dining plan this year, it was still very busy. Florida gets out of school earlier than us so June and July are VERY busy there. Somebody on here posted back in either June or July the Brazilian tour groups come in as well. Most of us "Northerners" go during the late August time. As I said, we now stay off site. We have stayed at the Nickelodeon Hotel 2x now and my kids 15, 9 & 8 today(!!) just love it there, the pool can't be beat. Good luck to you.

I would ONLY go the last week of August. We have gone in 2002 and 2005. Both times were awesome. We walked into all the rides. The longest wait was 10 minutes for soaring.RNC, TOT, Splash Mountain, space mountain were all walk on's all morning.
