What time of day is best to see the animals in AK on the safari ride? I've read that we should do this early, but I'm wondering if the animals will be out and about that early.

Weve been twice now, both times as soon as the park opens(head straight for the safari ride) and we were able to see all the animals. plus it tends to be alot cooler not only for the animals but for us humans also. Mimi :Pinkbounc om

We always go in the summer and we head there first and we see alot of animals. But also one time we were there and we had one of those afternoon showeres and after it was over for some reason we did the ride again and oh my there were lots of animals. So if you can't make it first thing in the morning and there is an afternoon shower, while everyone is headed out of the park go do the safari ride!

Yes, morning is the best time of the day. When it gets hot, the animals tend to just want to lie around (especially the lions). I would do Everest first and then run over and do the Safari. This is what we are doing when my partner and I go at the end of the month.

I totally agree with Mimimom. I have been on the ride twice once first ride of the day and all the animals were out and very visable. Second time was around 3:00 P.M. and half the animals could not be seen, this was in mid-May.

During the summer, the morning is the best. We have been told it is mainly because it is cooler but also because they are coming out of their pens and looking around. We make sure this is one of the first rides we go on.

During the winter months, the animals are more active during the middle of the day so you are able to see more.

We have been at different times of the day and early morning is the best. We've even had some animals so close to us we could have touched them. It was very cool.

yep...I rode EE, then ran and got fp for the safari.

Thanks guys, I had planned to do the safari first ( get FP for Everest b/c my smallest probably won't be big enough by that time to ride it - unless he grows 4 inches in the next 3 mos). I just wanted to make sure they were out and about b/c I know the kids will be excited.

thanks everyone for your help!

We were there in May, and did Safari right around 11:30 and we saw more animals than we had ever seen before.

Just got back Sunday. I rode EE first and waited in stanby line b/c FP line was almost as long. Only had to wait maybe 10 minutes for EE. Anyway, after that we rode Kali River Rapids after it opened at 930. We rode Safari around 1100 and saw the lions, elephants, giraffes, and even had some animals standing in the road in front of us! The driver had to rev his engine a few times before it would move! The time of day didn't seem to bother the animals this day. We even got to see the hippo's swimming underwater. Very cool!

1) True.
2) But there is a reason for the lions always laying around "their rock".
3) That is the only place WDW placed their air conditioner.
4) Only place to stay cool, and of course, they can be seen by guests.
