Best time to go?

Sorry if this has been covered before (probably numerous times!). But I've never been to DL before and we're thinking about going in 2005. We are very flexible about what month - we have our pick of all 12!

1) What is the best time of year to go weather-wise? We're looking for 70's-80's and sunny (who isn't?)

2) What is the best time to go crowd-wise?

3) What is the best time to go for best deals on airfare/hotel?

Thanks so much!! The answers to these will help us pinpoint a timeframe to look at.

Based on your criteria I'd vote for September after Labor Day. It's still very warm, the crowds will die down immensely after Labor Day and it's considered value season.

The only trade-offs will be the park hours will be shorter and it's traditionally rehab time so some rides may be down. Also the parades and fireworks go to weekends only in the off-season.

I went the last week of October in 1999. It was great! It didn't go above 80 degrees or below 70. The skies were sunny. There were no crowds at all. We got right on all the rides with no wait. Hotels were lower because it was the off season. Sure, the parks are open fewer hours each day, but when you factor in the amount of time saved from not waiting in lines, it's worth it! I couldn't believe it when I was there and got on Splash Mountain 8 times in a row. I'd get off and get right back on with zero wait! Very nice!

I went last month (second week of April) and was disappointed with the long lines. Also, it was starting to get pretty warm. I've been there in July and August as well...way too hot and huge crowds! Next time I go it will be either in October or January.

I would agree with seaotter, October is a great month to visit Disneyland. Good weather, good hotel rates, and reasonable attraction lines. My wife and I used to always go in October before our daughter was born. With her in school, we now go during the weekdays in summer.

One note though. This October the Indiana Jones ride will be down for refurb. After a very long summer run, that's probably the one possible negative to an October visit, a favorite ride being taken offline, although it appears that the spring months suffer the same problem (NOS, POTC this year).
