If you didn't have any kids and could go whenever you could when would that be and why?

I am trying to figure when the least crowded it will be, does anyone know?

I'd probably live in Fort Wilderness from September through May.

...uh...does that help at all?

My favorite times are late October/early November or the last week in April/first week in May.

Crowds are moderate to light and the weather is warm without being oppressively hot and humid.

We have to go in October and/or May due to DH's work schedule, but if I could, I would go every early December between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I have heard that is a fantastic time to go.....very low crowds but the Christmas decor is already up.

I have even thought of going without DH and just the kids for an early December trip.

Dawn

We always go in January. Crowds are light, we almost always either walk right onto rides/attractions or wait no more than 5 minutes. The weather is usually warm during the day so we were t-shirts and shorts, then evenings get cooler so we change into jeans and sweatshirts.

We love to go in early May. It's after spring breaks and before summer vacation so it's not crowded and not too hot! It's also less expensive.

I think that's when the Epcot Flower Show is going on and the park is so beautiful.

The second week in December!!

The decorations are up and the parks are fairly empty. We rode Splash 6 times continuously without ever having to get out of the boat last time we were there.

We have tried every month except June and July. January has lowest crowds but not by much and the weather is a consideration because it can be quite cold plus park hours are shortened and there are more ride closures.

While I love the Christmas activities, I still prefer May or October for the overall experience. Crowds are moderate (a slight increase over January but not bad), weather is nice. May has the Flower & Garden Festival and October has MNSSHP and Food and Wine.

We have been twice when it was a ghost town. :rotfl2: Once we checked in Fort Wilderness the Sunday after Thanksgiving and stayed until Thursday. It was a great trip, mild weather and no crowds. The other time we checked into Hard Rock at Universal on the Wed of the first week after New Year's. That trip they didn't even make you get off the rides and go back into the queues. My DD rode Dueling Dragons something like 17 times in a row. We have also been in mid-May like some other posters are reporting. I don't like going at that time of the year because the parks are packed with local school kids on school trips with discounted tickets. We have found them to be poorly supervised, rude and inconsiderate. Not my idea of "Magic". :sad2:

I would never recommend mid-August as the parks are packed and it is hot. We waited one time over an hour to place our order and receive our food at a counter service restaurant. It was before a parade so there were probably many people with the same plan. I think that trip we were lucky to get to do 3-4 things in one day, the wait times were very long. Couple that with people being irritable from the heat.

I've been several times in July and August, the second week of May, the second week of November, and every week in between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The second week of November (the week before Thanksgiving) was probably the least crowded (but the decorations weren't up at the resorts and only really at MK as MVMCP had started). I haven't been in December in the past 3 years but looking at pictures and reading other people's trip reports it's MUCH more crowded than it used to be. Weather can be hit or miss too, we had cloudy/rainy 40-50 degree days for an entire week one December and then had 70-80's gorgeous sunny weather the week after Thanksgiving the next year.

I think crowds very much depend on your perspective. We went in the 90's pre-fastpass, middle of July and THAT was crowded. Wall to wall people and 2-3 hour waits for just about everything. So to me everything since has seemed fairly uncrowded, even going in July/August now. Also if water rides and water parks are your thing they can be pretty much dead during the Winter months (as long as it's not over a holiday). We went to Typhoon Lagoon the week after Thanksgiving and only came across about 20-30 other people and some of them were CM's.

December!! Christmas decorations!! How could you not???

I'm going December 12th-18th! :woohoo:

With or without kids, the first few weeks of December is the best time to go (low crowds, Christmas Party, spectacular decorations). Second best would be October (crowds aren't horrible, Food & Wine Festival, Halloween Party).

My favorite time is the weekend in November around Veteran's Day. The Food and Wine festival is still going on (it's usually the last weekend) and that's when they start the Christmas decorations.

It's so much fun to go in one day and have everything "normal" and the next day suddenly Christmas is here!

The first couple of weeks in November. The food and wine festival is still going on, it's still warm enough to swim, but not humid and don't have the daily rains. Crowds are low, and towards the end of my stay I can usually get in to see the Christmas lights just to start getting me in the holiday spirit.

DH and I love to go at the beginning of September right after kids go back to school. Almost all of the attractions have no wait whatsoever. It is great to walk right on most anything. Of course the weather is hot and it is hurricane season but we have been lucky and always had great weather.:thumbsup2

If I could go whenever I wanted crowds wouldn't be my only consideration. Weather and special events would have to come into play too, and of course cost.

Of our trips, the lowest crowds were in January by far but the weather was really iffy. We got lucky and most of the trip was warmish, with just a couple of days out of 12 that we needed jackets, but that same week the next two years had a long stretch of sub-freezing lows. I'd rather not go back at that time of year because of the uncertainty of the weather (not saying never, though, because it is the easiest month for DH to be away from work).

Next would be the beginning of our December trip. We don't have a lot of patience with other people's kids, so we wedged our trip into the gap between Pop Warner and Christmas and the crowds did get a little nuts for the last two days (start of Christmas break in many places). The holiday decorations were great and the weather was perfect! I wouldn't hesitate to go back again at that time of year, but next time we'll either brave overlapping with PW or make the trip a little shorter rather than run into the holiday crowds.

After that comes late Sept/early Oct. The crowds were fairly light but the MK closes early several days a week for the Halloween party which is a bummer on the nights you aren't attending. And for us northerners, it was H-O-T! Food & Wine is a nice perk and we'll likely plan another Oct trip once the kids are grown (can't do it sooner because Oct is testing month in MI public schools :( ).

Late August was barely more crowded than late September and I didn't think the weather was noticably different. Once the southern schools go back, the summer crowds disappear, which makes the last week or two before Labor Day a great time for those of us with kids in late-starting northern/midwestern schools. If DH could reliably get away this would be my choice every time; the heat is managable, the crowds (and prices) are low, and the days (and park hours) are longer than in the off-peak winter months.

Our next trip will be for Flower & Garden. We were planning on early April, but now we're thinking opening weekend because of the overlap with the free dining offer. The weather won't be as warm, but the price difference is worth it.

Do you know how long that extends? We're going the first week in October and I'm wondering what crowds will be like.

Can't say for sure but I think it would be fine. Possibly not quite as good as early Sept. but still much better crowd wise than other times.

If you're looking for warm, not super hot, weather, I suggest the first full week of May - as long as it's a couple weeks post Easter. The couple times I went during that week, the weather was gorgeous; warm enough to wear summer clothes but not (usually) humid yet. If you don't care so much about having warm weather, the week after Thanksgiving is also a great time. I've been that time a couple of times and am going again this year. You'll see lots of us empty nesters there now that we don't have to vacation around kids' schedules.

Before DS was in school, we preferred the third week in May. It was a great time weather and crowd-wise!
