Best time to go to DL

We just went to DL in October and are planning another trip. Wondering what would be a better time to go. end of Feb/beg of March or end of april/beg of may. We would like to go when it is not very crowded and the whether is not raining. When we went in October it was unusually busy. We were really suprised. Kids are 5 and 2 and the crowds were harder on them then previous trips. Thanks for any info.

It will be more crowded in April/May, but the weather will likely be better - it will at least be warmer. Lately DLR has been fairly busy year round, and it has been harder for folks to find low crowds.

If you are looking for low crowds I would go the end of Feb to early March. Just go inbetween the whole week of presidents day and the second week of March when most Spring Breaks start. It would be a gamble with the weather though. It's been nuts this year hasn't it?

If you go in April or May I would try the very last week of April and the first 2 weeks of May. Like Hydroguy said it the weather should be warmer then but the crowds may be up a little. These were good weeks in the past that we always went. Having said all this I agree that attendance is up quite a bit and it's harder to find that slow time.

I know how crowds can be tough on little ones. Mine are 6 and 3 but using the tried and true tips from other Disers you should be fine. Use FP's as much as you can and hop over to DCA during the peak afternoon hours at DL then go back in the evening. This mainly applys to weekends or extended hour days I find. We take in the shows when it's busy in the afternoons and the kids are through waiting in line.

Thanks for the info, I am having a hard time waiting and really would like to go as soon as possible but really don't want the rain that would be worse than the crowds. I noticed though that in April they start having longer hours during the week, so I think we'll take that into consideration too.

My friends and sometimes me, usually go in June or Jan...sometimes a September trip is good too. The lines are shorter and the weather isn't horrible. I would never go in Dec...i've heard way too many horror stories.

Disneyland supports Gay Days the first week of October, and some families I have heard didn't feel comfortable being there, it's also A LOT more busy.

Well I don't like telling too many ppl when the best times to go are because then soon they won't be the best times to go I'm just kidding.
I go the same time every year, around November 20th, after vets day before thanksgiving, we've always had excellent luck with these days and zero crowds and all the pretty christmas decorations are up. However this year Vets day and thanksgiving seem to fall a little closer together than last year so we're looking for a new time of year to go so I thank you for posting this question but I have a feeling we'll still go the same time of year because I love the christmas decorations.
