Im planning a 3 night stay at the DLR in october, my girlfriend hasnt been there in years and didnt know in october they change the HM to TNBC for the holidays and she really wants to see it. Is there a guide or site showing what will be down for refurb and up and running that far into the year? i dont know if it will be possible to see what will be up and running or down for refurb from now til october, but an estimated guess will do. Any tips or advice? im currently looking for a Hotel only deal online, maybe expedia or costco may have good deals....im getting my tickets, so far, from the naxy exchange off a friend, they have 3 day hopper tickets for 150$ each...whether i want to upgrade them for Premium AP i havent decided yet....ill probably make that decision 2 months before our actual trip.
anyway, back on the main topic, what do you think are the best days to go during the october period? i was thinking checking in on the 12th * friday * and leaving on the 14th * monday morning * that gives us 3 days of fun and relaxation, i know those are probably busy days, but we have 3 days to see and watch everything and relax, im also going all out with this trip, character meals, fantasmic balcony, napa rose maybe and blue bayou. any tips would help so much, im tight on money most of the time so this is the only time in a long time im going to splurge like crazy on this trip, so any advice to make it more magical for me and my loved one will be greatly appreciated. and thanks in advnace for all the help you guys and gals on dis have helped me with and others already on this board. :upsidedow

Based on past years, HM should go down right after Labor Day in early Sept and be closed most of that month. It should open before Oct. 1. The weekend you are considering is Columbus weekend, with the holiday on Friday. I would expect the park to be fairly busy that weekend as it is a federal holiday- so banks and govt workers will have the day off, as will many schools. I know our school takes a long weekend, but says its for teachers in service rather then the holiday. The weekends later in the month will have the halloween events at DCA which will bring in crowds as well. Oct. is the slow season it used to be!

Actually Columbus Day this year is Monday, October 8, so the weekend you selected might be a good one - if there is such a thing at DLR. There are a lot of schools out is the Western US our for fall break at some time in October but it is not yet observered everywhere like Spring Break. Since that will be throughout all of October, the weekend you picked might be the best - after Columbus Day, but hopefully before the Halloween crowds are too crazy. I have not seen a refurb schedule for October yet, but mouseplantet.com has a pretty good one.

That's the same dates we went in '06. The weather was good. The park was great on the weekdays but a bit busy on the weekend. It was a great trip.

Just FYI - I know my kid is off on Fall Break that week and would guess that much of the Phoenix area will be as well. Some areas have the week after off as well. A lot of us head that way to cool off.

You are right- my mistake. I didnt see the "traditional" after it, and that it was being celebrated on Monday. I thought it was weird that it was a Friday holiday. :lmao:

Well, last year we went during the week, before Columbus Day weekend, and it was good. Doing that this year, though, looks like it could be very busy, due to the annual Gay Days gathering there on the 5th through the 7th, and then the holiday right after that. So, crowd-wise, I would think your mid-October choice might be a good one. And my birthday is on one of those days, so of course that day will be good. :)

My guess is the weekend will be decently busy if they are doing the same Halloween event as last year. We will be there the 7th - 12th (Higley AZ schools are off for break that week). I do know many will rather go on the weekend though so that they will be there for the Halloween event.
