Well our flights for July are now booked and even though I should be thinking of our Christmas trip to Disneyland Paris (we go in less than 2 weeks), my thoughts keep switching to summer and our first trip to DLR.

I wonder when was the best time to book hotel to get discounts - I know that HoJo have Entertainment book rates and I wondered if we would benefit by having the guide shipped to the UK - we did this once to get a discount on a Loews hotel at Universal Florida. Do other hotels usually have discounts - the Candy Cane or the Anabella for that time of year - we are going on July 9th.

For the Ent Rate you can see what they have available now on their website, http://www.hojoanaheim.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14 They don't have anything up for July and many times they don't put July dates up until very last minute. The HoJo Anaheim Ent Rate is different from the main ent discount, this HoJo offers a much higher discount if you're lucky enough to score it. :) You don't need the book, just find a card for sale and buy that, it can be any card and it will still work. Basically you just need to keep checking for those room rates, but you can probably find some now that are cheap that far out. Check the Anaheim Plaza, they usually have good rates, the CCI does not have an Ent Rate available, I don't know about the Anabella. :)

Thank you very much - now for another stupid question - how do you buy a card - I presume you mean look on e-Bay - when you say any card, do you mean an Entertainment card from any year? Thanks again

Hello from another Mancunian! :yay:

I've just booked the HOJO for July, I went to www.mousesavers.com they have a link you go through to get a reduction on the rate for the HOJO, we got a room for $109 plus tax, in building 2 overlooking the pool. Thought I'd mention it, as it might be useful to you. :goodvibes

I believe you will need an Entertainment card that is valid for 2010 but you can definitely get them on e-Bay for about 7 USD ;)

Definitely, for the current year. It is an annual membership, and the card is valid through Nov.01 of each year. Then one would need to have a new card. Sometimes on E bay for next to nothing one can purchase the Entertainment Rate Card. Otherwise, the price is still very low. The Entertainment Book Co. does offer special rates and offers throughout the year if purchasing their book from them.

If you are going to have a car (or are willing to use public transit) here use name your own price on priceline and enter about 50% of the lowest rate you can find anywhere for the area, start by only selecting the highest star level, then if you don't get it, increase your price 5-10% and decrease one star level, repeat until you get your room, please note that you wil always get the highest star level that is available at your current price. In many cases you will get a hotel with a shuttle, but not always.

I also strongly recommend public transit over the ART busses (assuming your hotel is near a public transit route), they are cheaper and run later, the only downside is they drop you off and pick up on Harbor, so you have about 100 feet extra to walk. (Maybe a little more or less, depending on where your ART route would drop you off) Aslo, please note that the ART bus drivers are rude and when they say the last bus leaves at 11:30 at night, what they really mean is it will get there at 11:15 and if it filles up before 11:30, it will leave and here will NOT be another one. When my Wife went with her family and stayed with them at one of the hotels, she had to stand in the doorway to stop the bus driver from leaving without the rest of their group that was about 5 minutes behind her (but still well within the time frame of when the "last bus" was supposed to leave).
