When are lines shorter in the restaurants and plenty of space to sit down?

There are a few factor involved in answering that question. #1 would be when are you going? Are you talking true sit down table service meals or are you talking about counter service? Are you wanting character meals or meals tied to WOC or Fantasmic? Doing fancier meals like Napa rose or Carthay Circle?

If you are talking table service then I would suggest that you decide where you want to eat and then make your rezzies at the 60 day mark for whatever time you normally like to eat.

We found in April that for any of the meal times we didn't have rezzies for we would just basically wing it, eat when we were hungry and if one place was a little to busy then we went somewhere else but thats because April wasn't crazy busy. At this time of year, well your mileage will vary alot i think.

Generally as soon as lunch begins (I think 11) is the least busy time for counter service lunch. Dinner can be harder to get an un busy time as the restaurants are pretty busy from noon on. There is probably a slight lull around 4pm, but that's a bit early for dinner. We generally eat at 5pm, and we have to wait in lines, but the lines are noticeably worse around 6pm. If you like a late dinner after 7pm, then you're probably pretty good for shorter lines too.

Best time to eat dinner? When you're hungry. LOL :rotfl2:

I would expect restaurants to be busiest for lunch between 11:30-1 and for dinner between 6-7pm. If you are traveling with younger children who are used to eating at certain times, then eat meals at the kids' normal meal times.

However, if that scenario does not apply to you, then you could either do an early or a late lunch. Or an early or a later dinner.

Both at Disney and any other place we eat dinner, we go around 4:30 and don't have to worry about crowds. To do this we eat a light breakfast and then have lunch at 11:30. We rarely snack so we're hungry by dinner time.
