My family really wants to do the cruise next year. I am starting my research/planning now. Here are a few questions....

When is the best time to cruise (weather, cost, etc..)

Any tips?

Thanks!! :flower:

Depending on whether you have kids that you'll have to take out of school, time of year you want to cruise etc. We have always gone in October: we take our kids out of school, but the weather is great and the prices are cheaper!

The best time to cruise is when you have the time and money.
You roll the dice on weather any time of year.
Prices seem to be lowest when kids are in school, and hurricane season.
Pick a date, put down a deposit, and realize you will have a great time regardless!

I was wondering this also. I do not mind taking my kids out of school. I would like to go maybe in May, but I do not know how high the prices are then. I know we can not afford to go in the summer months and I really don't want to go in Jan or Feb and risk cold water!

I like to surf around dreamsunlimited.com, and allseastravel.com, because they show a lot of pricing..This helps find out the best best time to go..(for me it is cheapest) :goodvibes

May usually is not too bad, because Spring Breaks are over..September is the cheapest, quite risky, but cheap cheap cheap..

If schedules are no problem, the first two - three weeks of may seem to be the best, at least in the Carribean.

Fares are low, and the weather is not too hot.

Spring break is over, kids are back in school and not likely to be taken out with it being over in a few weeks.

If I could this would be my first choice.

You'll find that many of these factors work against each other. The time when you could experience the worst weather (hurricane season) is when the lowest fares are offered. The best weather is, to some extent, a matter of personal preference. For us, it is a matter of how bad weather is at home, so we feel January/February is the best weather. However, the DCL ships tend to cruise at a latitude that is cooler in January/February than some folks would like. So perhaps November/December or March/April are best in terms of weather, though the latter part of that time gets a bit more costly.
