I was wondering when is the best time to catch low rates and deals for offsite hotels. My family and I are looking at a possible Disney trip in July ( I know, it's going to be hotter than hot , but due to my kids being out of school its the only time we can do it.) anyway, I've been searching online and the rates seem to be somewhat higher than when I last checked. So should I wait until I'm almost a 2-3 months out maybe even the last minute or should I just accept that the rates will be a little higher since this is considered a peak period. Oh, and I've been looking at condo type places I'd prefer places like the Lake Eve Resort or Blue Heron. ( A place with a hotel like feel but with condo amenities.

I'm not so sure you can "time" getting a great hotel rate anymore than you can "time" getting a low airfare or even the stock market. I think you need to cast a wide net (search in multiple places) and be prepared to jump when you see a good (not great) rate (however you define it). I would encourage you to check AAA rates (if you are a member), Travelzoo, Orlando/Orange County CVB http://www.orlandoinfo.com/accommodations/# and similar sites.

Orlando is so overbuilt with hotel rooms you don't have to try timing anything. You can find deals on the hotel websites or if you are the adventurous type you can use Priceline. We've won bids on 3 star hotels for less than $25/night in the middle of July, which is one of the busiest times of the year.

If gas prices hit $4 plus as currently being predicted, they'll be begging you to take their rooms in Orlando (if you can afford to get there). :sad2:
