ok, so far i have

1. booked holiday - yippee !!!
2. bought simons book - very useful
3. bought spending money - one of those TC card things when on spec. offer

now need to buy theme park tickets

not going until last two weeks of july, is it worth buying now, or waiting and keeping my pennies in the bank, instead of in theirs?

also, if anyone has had good experience and can recommend any co.s that sell them i'd appreciate it.
thanks
FF

I think the gate prices will remain stable between now and when you leave so the only thing that will make them vary in price is the $-£ exchange rate.

I like to spread the cost over the year so I tend to buy tickets when we're not having to pay the deposit/balance of the holiday.

I use www.ticketmania.com for our Disney tickets as I prefer the choice the American market gets but they dont do the tickets designed for the UK market. You can get a small discount with Ticketmania with the Mousesavers newsletter.

I got my Flextickets by a search of the internet for the cheapest price which at the time was transolarholidays. I would make sure if you do this that you get real tickets, they take credit card and that they send the tickets right away as an internet ticket company has recently gone bust.

If buying from the US it is worth looking into the Nationwide credit cards as you will get a better exchange rate than other cards as they dont charge the standard 2.75% fee in the exchange rate.

I truly think it would be safe to plunge now as the prices won't change between now and July. I always use mercury travel as they send me real tickets not vouchers, they are based in the uk and specialise in florida, and they always seem to have the cheapest price around when I check.
(Sorry I sound like an advert! :teeth: )

Having just be involved with the ticket company that went bust i would strongly reccommend ordering your tickets ASAP. We are 2 weeks before our trip and have had to pay out another £1500 on top of the £1300 that we are trying to get back. My personal advice book on your credit card because despite what everyone says about ABTA they only reimburse for package holidays/flights and not attraction tickets. We have used Mercury previously and would reccommend them and also attraction tickets direct who we have re booked our tickets througgh. Fingers crossed they come soon.

Thanks for your replies folks, and sorry Halls to hear of your bad news, that must be very inconvenient, stressful and worrying. I hope that you get the situation resolved soon.

I will be ordering my tickets today ! either through mercury of ATD

Sorry to hijack someone elses thread, but I am interested in the comments about the ticket agents, and in particular Maple Leaf Tickets. We are leaving for Orlando on Thursday :sunny: and the only thing I haven't prepurchased so far is our Disney tickets.

I decided not to use a UK agency, as I want to get the no expiry tickets which don't seem to be available in the UK. Ideally I would like to pre-book online and pick the tickets up somewhere on Irlo Bronson Highway, but I find myself nervous of parting wiht my heard earned to a company whose reputation I know nothing about!

Can someone tell me more about their experiences with booking online and picking up, and whether it's just as cheap to simply buy them across the counter when you get there? All advice greatly appreciated.

I know that JohnnySharp always gets his through Maple leaf and speaks highly of them, do a search for his name and pm him if you've any specific questions, he won't mind, he's a good bloke!

Last time we went we used Keith Prowse for the Disney tickets, they sent actual tickets about two weeks before the holiday. Also being the company that supplies the major travel agents they're not going anywhere in a hurry!

For the 5-park flextickets we purchased directly from universal orlando - it was cheaper to pay by card and have them shipped from the US than to source them in this country!

This year, we're not getting flextickets as we're visiting Discovery Cove. For $30 over the regular DC price you can get a two week pass for Busch Gardens AND Seaworld, and we're buying the universal tickets as standalone ones, since we don't need wet n wild.

Fairy Nuff, we used Maple Leaf and Johnny was one of the people who recommended them. I think he collects in Orlando but as Carol said if you pm him, he can let you know. He really is very helpful. I got mine delivered and was Very impressed by the service.

Good Luck!

Thanks for your replies folks! I've messaged Johnny but no reply as yet. We would plan to collect them from Maple Leaf, as we've been before and are familiar with the area. Sounds like they are the way to go, but the joy of doing it this way is that I don't have to make my mind up in a hurry, and can book as late as the day before we fly! :)

Hi Fairy Nuff and welcome to the Dis
