We will be taking our Disney trip in the summer this year. Does anyone have a specific time they think is best? Thanks!

I haven't been, but I heard that the last two weeks of August are very good because the crowd level drops. Many schools go back beginning to mid August so the last two weeks are very uncrowded.

It probably depends on your family's weather preferences and crowd tolerance. I agree with the previous poster that the end of August crowds thin out but it can be sweltering. We went in August '05 and will not go back again during that time of year. We had thought we could just escape to the pool if it got too hot. That was only refreshing for about 5 minutes as the pool was like bath water. Last year we went the first week in June and it was great weather-wise and we found the crowds to be very manageable. Next time we do a summer trip it will be in early June.

What about if it is late June/early July? I'm from NY and we don't get out of school until the end of June.

I agree with the previous poster that said early June. I live in SW Florida year-round and must say that early June is the most manageable as far as weather. Like the first week or two at max...after that it's guaranteed to be sweltering. Late July and August are probably the worst.

We were there the third week in June last summer before our cruise. We had prepared the kids for big crowds and long lines and not being able to ride everything they wanted to. On Day 1, we were at MK when it opened. The older two (15, 17) headed off by themselves to hit the big rides early. We met back 2 hours later and they had done every ride TWICE! :cool1: We had gone to Fantasyland with DS and had also done everything twice. It did get more crowded and hotter in the afternoon, but we did so well in the morning, we headed back to the pool for afternoon breaks. We were pleasantly surprised by the manageable crowds and good weather. We've done July and will NEVER do that again! I would guess the crowds pick up the last week in June because of the impending Fourth holiday, but we thoroughly enjoyed our week 3 trip! Good luck :)

Is 4th of July a giant celebration? It looks like the best I could do would be to leave on the 25th of June- but things may be gearing up for the holiday. It's either that or hurricane season!:confused3

We go every July (teachers) - the last week in July. There has been only ONE time in the last 10 years that it was horribly hot. The other times have been hot, but not unbearable. It is crowded, but not like July 4th.

I'm a teacher too. Thanks so much for this post, I have been worried that July would be sweltering. Does anyone know when it settles down after the 4th?

We have found that the crowds are the least during the last two weeks of August (I assume because many schools are back in session during this time). The end of June and all of July tend to be very crowded. :)

I may be the outsider here but I love going in August! We go to WDW every Aug for about 2 weeks. My dad is a teacher too, so going in June is not a possibility for him or my siblings. Going in July isnt an option either since the parks tend to be crowded so the end of Aug is perfect for us since the crowds are minimal. We have gone so many times in Aug that we have it down to a science. Wake up early, go to the parks, have lunch....right around lunchtime is when it starts to get hot so we head back to our resort. Maybe go in the pool for a bit, but we usually hang out in the room together and just take a mid day break. After shower hour (the time around 3 or 4pm where it rains for about 20mins) the weather is much cooler so we head back out to the parks, have dinner, then back to the hotel for the night so we can do the same thing the following day. Dont get me wrong, it is hot but its not unbearable. We always have a great time and have another trip booked this Aug from the 21-30 at the Poly and I cant wait!:)

It's is hot late June/early July, but for summer that's when we like to go. We get there around 6/24 and leave around the 4th. We did stay for the 4th last year, but didn't do anything special, but they do show fireworks the 3rd and 4th. (The 3rd is the prep. fireworks) We were at BCV and they were really loud...much more than normal. This year we are leaving ON the 4th. We do the parks before the 4th. I hate heat. I hate to sweat, but I've gotten used to it. I sweat more than the regular person as it is. I just put on eyeliner, a sunvisor, and sunscreen. A dip in the pool always cools you down too. You'll have a great time.

I went last year at Easter and the end of June. I would, hands down pick Easter week over the end of June. Infact, we are going back this Easter. The weather was much better at Easter and the crowds were not that much more than late June.
