Best time for Ohana dinner ADR?

Next month, I make our 180-day ADRs. We want to try and go to Ohana for dinner (hoping I get the ADR, I know it can be difficult). What is the best time to make the ADR? I know it is a very crowded place to get into. We will be at WDW late July, and there will be 4 of us on the ADR. Normally I make a 6pm dinner ADR (usually works out so we sit down by 6:30, but usually earlier), but should I make it earlier for Ohana? If I make a 5:30 ADR, and we arrive about 20 minutes before that (we always get to the restaurant earlier than the ADR), is it likely we will at least sit down by 6:30?

When we were there it did take us that long to be seated. I would think that 6:00 would be ok. Of course on any given night it could be later or earlier so who knowns.:thumbsup2

We've eaten dinner there three times and have never waited more than 15-20 minutes to be seated BUT we get their earlier and I think our latest ADR time was 6, we like to eat early though so we have time to digest before bed LOL!

The last time we were there our reservation was for 5:30. We misjudged the timing to get there and arrived at 5:05 rather than the 15 min. ahead of time like they ask you too. We were seated within 10 minutes. It was perfect timing!

I love this place, and in my experiences (at busier times of the year), I have found if you get a rez for the first round of seating, 5-5:30 'ish, you'll be seated on time or even early. The later your rez...the longer you may wait past your rez time. I suggest getting an early ADR at 5-5:30, and I'm finding with the new ADR system it's easier to get a rez for Ohana at the 180 day point....and even for a while after....

I am staying offsite in May. Our last night will be on a Saturday, and we will not be in the parks that day. We were considering having dinner and watching fireworks as an end to our vacation. I don't want to get there too early, sitting around after dinner. What time would be best for planning on allowing enough time to park, be seated, eat, and still catch fireworks on the beach?

I think that after all the great advice here, I will make the ADR for 5:30 instead of 6, but we will get there at 5 when it opens. Thanks everyone!
