Best time for 4 day PARTY ONLY trip in December?

Hello all! New to posting, long time lurker. I have used these forums to plan (with great success) my last 3 trips, but all were in the month of May. This year I want to surprise dd6 with a Christmas party trip. It would be Tuesday-Friday, 2 Christmas party days ONLY. Any advice/suggestions on making the best of this trip would be greatly appreciated!

Well, parties are typically held on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday nights. For me, hitting a party on arrival day would be really tough, as I never sleep well the night before and then have to be up early to head to the airport.

*I* would choose either the first or second week of December, as crowds should be a bit lower then and increase the closer you get to Christmas.

We went to the Thursday and Friday parties the first week in December this past year. When we entered at 4:00 with our party tickets, the park didn't seem that crowded.

It would be best to do the Tuesday and Thursday parties with your DD. A day of resting between the two parties and time to do something fun (DTD or resort hop) on your last day.

I don't know where you're planning to stay, but definitely consider visiting a few of the other resorts to see the decorations -- especially the gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian!

We would probably stay at either POR or CBR. Seeing the decisions at the other resorts/downtown would definitely be on the agenda. I was thinking maybe the week immediately following Thanksgiving. I'm not all that concerned about the crowds because like I said, we'll only be going to go to the party(s), and see the decorations. We'll be returning for a 10 day trip in May to do everything else!

That's exactly the week I would choose!

Even though you're only going to the parties this time, I'm sure there's less chance of them selling out during that week than right before Christmas. We'll be there right after you and I'm trying to choose our party date. I'm thinking Tuesday the 9th.

I'm excited! My daughter will never expect it because we ALWAYS go in May, and she didn't (nor did we) think we were going to make it happen this year, so it should be a GREAT surprise for her!
