Best Time and How Many Days to Visit DL?

The DH and I are DVC Members at VWL in Orlando and love WDW--we find we just can't see it all no matter how many times we've been!

This year, we are thinking of going to DL---our dream trip would be to spend a couple days in California, and then move on to Hawaii, ck'ing in at the DL resort on the Friday following Thanksgiving.

Question? Is two days enough at DL and if Hawaii doesn't pan out---how would a 5-7 night stay at a DL resort while doing the parks be?

Any input would be GREATLY appreciated!

2 days is not enough to see all of DLR, 4 or 5 is better!.... You sould have no problem going to Hawaii.... Aulani will be easier to book than VGC at 7 months.... Good luck!

Usually I would say 3-5 days is great. But because of the timing of your trip you would want to push it toward 5. 2 will only let you see the tip of the iceberg.

I'd make those reservations for DVC places right away. It will be busy time at the GCH and Alani. If you haven't been to Hawaii before listen to this carefully. This isn't a new DVC to catch people who didn't get one in the US. This is targeted at Japan. Japanese visitors make up close to half of Hawaii's visits. They are also huge Disney fans.

Also a great thread for WDW vets to give you a good point of view on DLR.

In 2005 we did exactly what you are planning on doing. We spent 2 days at DLR then continued over to Hawaii for 8 days.

I was glad that we stopped at DLR as that was our first trip and it was the 50th anniversary for the park, but we really wish we had planned on staying longer. And to top it off, there was a small earthquake while we were in the parks, so some rides had to be shut down and did not reopen the rest of the day.

I am not at all suggesting to not stop by and visit the parks. Just know that you can't do everything and enjoy the experience. We are WDW vets as well, but there is something very magical when visiting DLR.

Actually the days after Thanksgiving have, in the recent past, been very NOT crowded.

However, I would still say that 2 days is very minimal, especially for a first trip. The DLR is expanding this year and next which means the number of necessary days is also increasing. 4-5 is good for a solid "see a lot but not everything" trip.
