Best Tablet for Alexa

I am thinking of buying my father, who is 89, a speaker he can put by his recliner, to listen to classical music. I am thinking Alexa type speaker might be my best choice for a voice command. He does not own a phone or mobile device, so I may need to buy him a tablet to download the app to use Alexa. He does have Amazon prime.

I also would like him to be able to see his grandkids pictures on Instagram, Facebook, etc. which is why I thought about a tablet. I have all Apple products so I thought iPad might be a good idea. However, I see Amazon sells their own tablet called a fire which is already preloaded with Alexa. After reading about it it sounds like a good idea. He only will be using it in his home which is Wi-Fi enabled.

What are the limitations of an Amazon fire tablet compared to what I am used to with an iPad?

If you get one of the amazon speakers you don’t need anything to control it, just your voice.

As for the Fire, I think it can do both Instagram and Facebook. I talked my DH into trying one instead of a new IPad. It’s pretty amazing what they do for so much cheaper than an Apple product. My DH doesn’t really do social media but he has had no complaints for surfing the web with it. My DS uses his for watching Netflix, YouTube and Amazon Prime shows.

The fire tablet is good, my mom could not figure out how to use it even with it being simple for us. Good thing its 30.00

So we just bought my kids grandma a echo show with drop in. We video her once a week.
Yes a lot more expensive but for us it's really worth it. ( cause you need 2)
