Best Sushi in WDW?

But, hope to try Kimono's my next trip....in 100 days! :goodvibes :hourglass

We've always eaten sushi at Matsunoma Lounge in Epcot, but after this thread DH and I will deinitely try Kimono's next time! We love sushi and have to eat it at least a few times a month.

Is it inappropriate to ask on this thread just what sushi tastes like? Never had it.

Not inappropriate at all! Except describing what sushi tastes like is kind of complex. It's like asking, what does Chinese food or Mexican food taste like.... it really depends on what you order. Sushi can be spicy, it can taste real fishy (which some peope like), it can be salty, it can be sweet. If you have never tried sushi before, don't be afraid to try it. Most people associate sushi with exclusively raw fish, but there is plenty of cooked sushi. California rolls are a good start; they're made of crab (cooked or imitation), cucumber, avocado and rice. Or try tempura rolls, which are tempura shrimp and usually cucumber. Those are always good! Don't be afraid. Try it just to see. For some it is an acquired taste, and once you find yourself comfortable you might become addicted like the rest of us sushi lovers :p

My husband loves his sushi :crazy2:
we will be using the dining plan so I was wondering if there are any good sushi places on the plan? if not, where is the best place for sushi...he's going to eat his sushi plan or no plan :goodvibes
thanks in advance!

Try the Tempura House at the Japanese Pavilion in World Showcase at Epcot. The sushi looks as good as any that I had in Japan (same for the tempura, too)

We absolutely LOVE the sushi @ CA Grill. Mouse-N-Mini, if you are new to sushi, they will help you select something that you will like. princess: pirate: :earboy2:

WOW, thanks for all the replies :flower:
this definately helps! :love2:

Another vote for the sushi at California Grill....(and we had it as our dinner...NOT an appetizer). VERY GOOD!!!

The tips are appreciated! :goodvibes Thanks a lot. I think i might just have to give it a try this trip!

My DH is a big sushi lover. We dined at CG last week (I'll post a review in a bit) and DH had Yoshi's deluxe sushi platter as his meal. It has 12 large pieces of sushi (each one a different type) that my DH declared wonderful. My DH had a hard time eating the whole platter since it was so large. Great price for what you get.

We ate sushi at CG as our meal. Just ordered a few of the sampler platters. It was fabulous and priced reasonably as well.

We always have a sushi break at the Japan pavillion @ Epcot. It's not the greatest sushi you'll ever have, but, it's very good and the view is wonderful. I have had sushi at CG and Wolfgang Pucks and I really like WP sushi! I think I will wonder over to the Swan and try the Kimona Lounge next month!

The best sushi in Orlando is Ran Getsu of Toyko: http://www.rangetsu.com

The food is fab! And they have a lot of non-sushi dishes too like Shabu-Shabu. The drum players in Epcot come to Ran Getsu for evening shows over the koi pond and they are very good! I love the food and the atmosphere.

The downside is that there seems to be a lot of older men there with very pretty younger women on a "first date" ... if you know what I mean. To put it bluntly, it appears to be a favorite amoung the conventioneer/escort crowd. {shrug} We find it kinda amusing. Especially when you can tell the girls don't want to eat the sushi, LOL!

As for WDW restaurants, I believe the best sushi on the dining plan is the California Grill. The Snake In the Grass roll looks really great! I had the Tuna-3-Ways which was good. Sushi is considered an appitizer at the California Grill. I'll try the Snake the next time. The sushi at Japan in Epcot and at Kimonos at the Swan are also both OK, but not on the dining plan.
