best sunscreen for kids?

I have very fair skin and one of my 3 boys does too (lucky him). We use Blue Lizard all summer and we spend countless hours in the sun/water at our lake house each year.

Many of the name brand sunscreens mentioned will block the burning rays but have very poor protection for the cancer causing rays. So, your child may be getting long term sun damage even though they don't get burned.

Our dermatologist told us about Blue Lizard 3 years ago and says it's what she uses on her kids.

It's not cheap, but I think it's worth it.

Rite Aid carries it on on their shelves and I think they'll even order the larger bottles if you request it.

We go through a ton of sunscreen each summer (sometimes 2 bottles a week) and it does get expensive but with all the time we spend outdoors boating, swimming, tubing, water skiing, etc. I feel like it's worth it to protect their skin.

Does Blue Lizard wipe off and constantly need to be reapplied or is it more of a apply once in the morning and once in the afternoon kind of deal? DS will not want me constantly rubbing him down. He has sensory issues and we have enough trouble dealing with them in WDW.

We used it twice a day last week. Once before going to the parks in the morning, and once before getting into the pool after lunch. For dd who is 5m we occasionally put an additional application on in the early evening if we were going to be walking around at night since it doesn't get dark until later in the evening. It worked great.

Love Neutrogena. All the different kinds of this brand I have used have been great. They have a chemical free formula; it's a great physical barrier sunblock. I was given some Bert's Bees chemical free this spring and it seems to work really well too.

Blue Lizard, can't beat it. We often only apply it once in the a.m. and it lasts all day

We use Blue Lizard, and Claifornia Baby... too many chemicals out there already. I won't put them on my children, (or self), nor do I want it in our waste water.
